RECREATION SPECIALIST (COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES)EUR 30.000 - 50.000
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Programming Assistant & Assistant Director to the Director of the Community Center. Under the supervision of the Community Center Director, assists in planning, developing, coordinating & implementing a wide variety of activities, classes, & events for the Community Center.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-05, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include planning, organizing, coordinating, supervising, or evaluating community, industrial, outdoor, institutional, or other recreational programs. Planning, establishing, or evaluating a recreational curriculum for junior college or higher academic levels. Instructing in the principles and techniques of recreational program planning and management; or serving in a leadership role in the programs and activities of local, regional, and/or national recreational organizations.

EDUCATION: Successfully completed one full academic year of graduate-level education with a major study in a subject area related to the position to be filled OR have a bachelor's degree in a subject area related to the position and am claiming Superior Academic Achievement. COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of the principles, methods and techniques to assist in the planning and implementing a recreational program offering a variety of community activities and events to a serviced community.Knowledge of basic analysis elements to evaluate program efficiency and ability to adapt or correct existing programs to customer satisfaction.Knowledge of common budgetary practices, procedures, regulations, and guidelines.Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures as relating to various Community Center activities.Ability to use one or more established computer programs/software (Microsoft Office) to enter, maintain, sort, and retrieve organizational and/or program data.Ability and skills to help out in a variety of recreational duties such as clerical/administrative and some minor maintenance assistance. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, using tact and courtesy.
