Position: Radio System EngineerThe candidate shall be able to manage the whole lifecycle of a bid or a project from a technical point of view, for a Radio System in Transportation Domain project.
The Radio System Engineer role requires sound technical knowledge and experience in wireless equipment and radio environments, from the design to the configuration and maintenance of such infrastructures. The candidate will support the bid and project in different aspects. As part of the bid/tender stage, the candidate will analyse contractual and system requirements, derive subsystem requirements, and build the wireless radio infrastructure based on the outcome of such analysis. As part of the project stage, the candidate will interface with the Application Layer teams and Network Layer teams to collect all the inputs necessary to develop the design. During the integration and development phase, the candidate will support the IVVQ team and coordinate with suppliers to build the designed infrastructure.
Main ActivitiesResponsible for all technical activities: identifying and analysing requirements, defining architecture, allocating requirements to system components, developing solutions, integrating, verifying, validating, and qualifying the system.Ensure conformity with requirements, quality, performance, customer satisfaction, budget, and schedule relevant to the engineering work package.Propose the technical solution and general application, network architecture, equipment positioning, and coverage to support the virtualized environment.Ensure requirements management and their allocation to subsystems/components.Plan and oversee configuration management activities and solution integrity with the Configuration Manager.Support deployment/installation and site acceptance activities.Ensure coordination and communication among various players in technical activities and a smooth transition of responsibility to the Installation and Commissioning organization.Main technical interface for the customer counterpart for subsystems.Coordinate with technical customer counterpart according to contractual requirements.Participate in project meetings when scheduled and/or requested.Compile reports concerning roles and responsibilities according to internal reporting procedures.Draft official letters and correspondence to be sent to the customer.Coordinate and control different vendors/manufacturers, suppliers, and subcontractors.Correctly apply quality procedures and HSE procedures and instructions.Manage external interfaces with the Interface Manager.Allocate and coordinate human and physical resources in the team (if any).Review the technical scope of work and keep updated the scope baseline, informing the PM, Contract Manager, and Solution Engineering Manager.Propose variation requests to SEM for submission to the customer.Assist the PM/SEM, Contract Manager, and Sales department in the technical negotiation of change proposals.Support the Contract Manager in preparing claim files.Support the technical bid contributing to the offer preparation for Radio System and Wireless Transmission System.Contribute to the preparation of the list of deliverables.Refine acceptance procedure principles and Integration, Verification, Validation, Qualification, Acceptance Plan.Coordinate with Purchasing Department for the technical content of RFQ, offers evaluation, and supplier selection.Support the Purchasing Department in defining subcontracts and standard clauses.Skills and ExperienceSpecific technical competencies are necessary to cover this critical role and will be evaluated during candidate review. Prerequisites for this role are:
Min. 8 years of experience in the role.Strong knowledge of system requirements for existing radio standards, preferably including WiFi, GSM-R, LTE, FRMCS.Strong knowledge and understanding of Cellular, Radio, and Wireless systems.Demonstrable skills in systems engineering for radio and wireless systems.Good knowledge of radio coverage tools (e.g., iBwave, HTZ Communications, etc.).Proven experience in the design and implementation of RF systems.Previous experience with various brands of wireless radio equipment and devices.Technical background and experience in designing and developing Wireless Radio solutions.Familiarity with current technical trends in wireless and radio communications.Proficiency in office tools to produce project documentation in various formats.Practical knowledge of the development lifecycle and its use by systems engineers.Good knowledge of Operating Systems, both Windows and Linux based.Basic knowledge of Cybersecurity and Information security.Basic knowledge of network engineering (networking TCP/IP stack, routing, VLANs, redundancy protocols, network management protocols).The candidate must have developed through professional experiences the capability of managing relationships with other departments, customers, and suppliers.
Fluent English and Italian are mandatory.
