Datasensing was born in 2022 from the merger between Datalogic's Sensor & Safety and Machine Vision business unit and M.D. Micro Detectors, acquired in 2021.
The new company therefore faces the market with 100 years of experience, having combined two realities that have made the history of sensors in Italy since the early 1970s.
Datasensing is developing, manufacturing, and supplying Machine Vision, Sensor and Safety, offering more than 200 product lines and 22500 standard and custom part numbers.
The company is focused on industrial automation detection, inspection, measurement, safety and guidance application, from production to internal logistics of goods.
In its first year, the new company reached 76 mi. € sales revenues, growing of 20% compared to 2021, with over 350 employees worldwide.

Job Description
We are looking for an Optical Engineer able to autonomously design, develop and test optical components and systems for optoelectronic sensors. The Engineer will follow New Product Development from preliminary requirements to mass production, throughout all the project stages.
She/he will join a team of optical engineers and a young and dynamic R&D community that offers the opportunity of a professional growth through a modern approach to optical engineering and product development.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Design of parts and products together with mechanical and hardware designers, using Zemax optical SW in order to anticipate possible issues by means of simulation tools and rapid prototyping Preparation of optical parts drawings according to ISO 10110 Define optical and opto-mechanical specs and manage DFM analysis with optical components suppliers Develop engineered solutions, after evaluation of possible alternatives, time and costs. Find innovative solutions and submit patent proposals Technical documentation and data editing Follow all product life cycle, from prototype to mass production Cooperation with the Advanced Manufacturing Engineers to guarantee an optimized production process of the new product Take part in inter-functional project meetings in English language, create reports and other documentation in English. Maintenance of existing products to solve problems arisen from field or production, in strict collaboration with other departments (Quality Assurance, Procurement, Operations…). Liaise with Quality Dept. to define tools and methods to test important specifications (e.g. dimensional tolerances, incoming inspection, coating quality etc.) Select equipment and parts from external suppliers REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION (SCHOOL/SPECIALIZATION): Bachelor or Master's degree in Physics, Astronomy, Engineering, Mathematics. Additional education or PhD related to optics is a plus.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCES: Geometrical and wave optics and radiometry Optical components, optoelectronic devices, LED sources, lasers diodes, detectors Design of an optical system compliant to given specifications Optical and photometry lab instrumentation Optical design SW, Zemax preferred Numerical analysis and data visualization by SW tools like Excel, Matlab, Python, R,… Availability to short journeys in Italy and abroad Excellent relationship and team working skills Self-organization, commitment, task management Goal orientation, proactivity and self-motivation Good presentation, verbal and written communication skills, reporting results to the manager and to the team LANGUAGES: Italian, English (fluent).
EXPERIENCES: a previous experience in optical design of optoelectronic devices is preferred but not mandatory.
