Join the V Team Life.What you'll be doing...As a Software Backend Python Engineer in the Device Health Group you will be primarily responsible for the backend work on building new solutions as well as enhancing the existing applications, best engineering practices adoption and variety of R&D initiatives for the company's award-winning Telematics Solution.Implementing changes and new features producing efficient, reusable and performant code.Developing applications using the python programming language.Designing and implementing low-latency, high-availability, and performant applications.Investigating technical issues during the full development lifecycle including specific components in production.Working closely with other members of the development team, as well as external stakeholders, in order to ensure that applications are developed according to specifications.Liaising with product stakeholders and other teams in the organization to complete the projects on time and to the highest quality standards.Participating in peer code reviews.Creating automation tests for the new features and changes to ensure quality and rapid delivery through CI/CD pipeline.What we're looking for...Proficient in Python: Deep understanding of Python, including advanced features and libraries (e.g., asyncio, threading).Database Management: Experience working in SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis) & ability to design and optimize database schemas.API Development: Experience in building and consuming RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL APIs.
Knowledge of API authentication/authorization mechanisms (OAuth, JWT).Cloud Services: Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and services (e.g., Lambda, S3, Redshift).Containerization: Experience with Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.Microservices Architecture: Understanding of microservices design principles and patterns.Testing: Strong background in writing unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end automation tests (using tools like pytest, unittest).Version Control: Proficient in Git and familiar with branching strategies.CI/CD: Knowledge of continuous integration and deployment practices.Performance Optimization: Skills in profiling and optimizing backend services.You'll need to have:Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.Three or more years of relevant work experience.Even better if you have one or more of the following:Knowledge of security best practices in backend development.Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Terraform).Understanding of frontend technologies (JavaScript frameworks) can be a plus.If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don't meet every "even better" qualification listed above.Where you'll be workingIn this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.Scheduled Weekly Hours40Diversity and InclusionWe're proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
