Job Summary The role of the Sales Engineer is to foster sales opportunities by applying engineering expertise and methodology to transform business needs into technical requirements.
Acting as the technical key person in the Sales Engineering and Proposals team, the Sales Engineer will organize the proposal preparation process, coordinate support from various specialists, and generate the technical/economical offer.
Responsibilities and Duties Understand operational requirements from customer documentation or interviews and establish the basis of agreement on product functionality. Provide specialized advice and consultancy to customers to analyze and detail operational requirements. Map system functional requirements into system characteristics and architecture to select the most suitable product configuration. Complement system requirements with program and project requirements according to customer scope of work and applicable regulations. Involve Design and Product Engineering for in-depth analysis of technical requirements. Perform technical presentations for offered products or solutions. Finalize Sales Engineering steps into the preparation of technical and commercial proposals. Follow up on proposal evaluations by the customer and manage updates, communication of requirements, and contract negotiation. Provide expected revenues and margins for proposal items to Finance. Support Business Development with technical and economical proposal packages. Receive feedback from Engineering on technical proposal preparation. Provide support to Product Line Managers to promote product line strategy. Receive cost estimates from Procurement for pricing definition. Support Program Management in preparing the transition from proposal to execution phase. Receive feedback from Quality on Quality Requirements for Supplier. Assist in managing acquired contracts and purchase orders. Monitor deliveries to customers and open actions. Track customer web portals for new requests for proposals/quotations. Support in issuing the annual business plan. Report weekly to Finance and Business Development on revenues and proposal status. Act as an internal point of contact for Overhaul & Repair function activities. Qualifications and Skills Degree in Electronic, Mechanical, Electrical, Optoelectronic, Aerospace Engineering, or Physics. 5 to 10 years of experience in design, development, manufacturing engineering, or technical sales. Knowledge of English for technical documentation and customer interaction. Familiarity with Systems Engineering and Program Management methodology, preferably in Aerospace and Defence. Past experience with embedded systems design and development is a plus. Well-organized and systematic in maintaining proposal documentation and communication. Ability to build trust with customers and exhibit professional ethics. Commitment to meeting bid deadlines and resilience during final proposal submissions. Proficiency in MS Office and MS Project.
