The General Project Manager is overall responsible for the Project and the Project results. He/She manages a project relevant to a Communication and Control Systems of a Metro assuring the achievement of all objectives (technical, operationally, economical, Financially and business-wise) within the defined schedule and budget and with expected level quality and safety, leading and managing the execution and implementation of the projects vis-à-vis with the Customers(s) and in strict coordination with each "discipline" PM and the Company Functions.
He/she coordinates (and also manages when necessary) the various Hitachi Rail units involved in the project (Countries, BLs, other entities) in full respect of the Organization and policies assuring primarily the Hitachi Rail overall interest. He/she coordinates (and also manages when necessary) the other Consortium partners involved in the project in full respect of the Consortium agreement in place. He/she is responsible for all qualifying points and competences for the management of a complex project (in a very multi culturally and multidisciplinary environment), using adequately and opportunely processes, methodologies, best practices, techniques and tools of Project Management.
He/she is responsible for the Direction and overall coordination of the project team, which is directed and managed efficiently in full alignment with the Company Organization. Ultimately, he/she is responsible to properly direct and manage the Business associated with such a project.
His main responsibilities are as follows:
Manage the project to achieve the targets, Customer satisfaction and Employer satisfaction and profitability.Responsible for correct managing the Project, ensuring the predefined results on time and within budget and with expected level of Quality.Unique and sole interface towards the Client.Ensures full compliance with Safety Requirements and full implementation of the Safety Plan throughout the project in close cooperation with the Safety Manager.Define and develop the Customer relationship strategy: understand the client environment, determine the client's interfaces and identify client responsibilities.Identify all project stakeholders, understand their environment and their influences and/or expectations on the projects, and then define a plan for managing each of them in the project interest (according - wherever possible - to a win-win approach).Accountable for the project profitability, sales and costs.Plans and coordinates, interfacing with the team members and the company functions, activities and resources of the project for the fulfillment of the project objectives (milestones contract).Manages and ensures customer satisfaction (quality and time) and pursues continuous improvement.Manages the contractual terms of the project.Organizes and plans the project with appropriate management tools (i.e. Primavera).Supervises and controls the production / product integration of project-related systems, interfacing with suppliers and engineering.Checks the progress of the project activities, in reference to the planned timetable.Monthly monitors the profit of the project and identifies and implements (and/or assures the implementation) of the necessary action plans to maximize profit.Supervises, coordinates and supports the System Engineer and Customer Service during the commissioning phases, maintenance and warranty.Supports the preparation and validates the project Statement of Work (baseline): confirm the scope, contractual issues and validate risk assumptions.Establishes the project structure including the project management organization and project team organization.Sets up the project team and assigns project roles and responsibilities to individuals.Primarily manages the assigned PMs who are leading and managing parts of the projects assigned to the GPM.Establishes internal targets in line with Contract requirements and Hitachi Rail expectations.Establishes and implements the Project Management Plan (PMP).Approves the general organization procedures (including the PQP) and all contractual procedures to be reviewed and approved by the Employer.Approves processes and general procedures (including progress measurement and performance measurements procedures).Implements the Project and mobilizes staff.Manages the project risks including contingency plans and risk mitigation.Assures correct application of Quality procedures.Assures correct and effective application of HSE procedures and instructions.Defines the project key progress and performance indicators (schedule, budget, quality).Manages with the Employer all activities related to Variation to Contractual Scope of Work.Coordinates all Project activities.Ensures full adherence of assigned resources to corporate key-values, the Code of Ethics, Chorus and regulations of Health, Security, Safety, Environment (HSE).Represents the company and specifically the project in front of the customer assuring solutions purchased and the required results.Focuses on anticipation, especially in risks and opportunities management.Is oriented and focused on problem solving.Is oriented to the satisfaction of customer needs and ensuring the company's profitability.Closes-out the project.Prerequisites and Skill University Degree in Engineering (Electronic, Telecommunication or Informatics) or equivalent knowledge gained through professional experience.Experience of at least 10 years as PM or GPM.Experience of at least 5 years in projects relevant to Communication and Control systems.Good technical background of the solutions concerning the Communications system, Control systems, Security systems, Passenger information comfort system used in the Metro or Railways environment.Optimal knowledge of English language for daily work with foreign interlocutors in international and multi-cultural contexts.Available to be located abroad for a medium/long term period (> 3 years).Available for Business Missions on a worldwide basis.Strong competencies in organization and coordination of multiple and remote-located teams.Autonomy, entrepreneurial and proactive attitude and behaviors; rigorous and committed.Self-discipline and leading by example.Oriented to the Business and able to understand and manage the Business (behind the Project itself).Strong motivation to work for targets.High seniority and long experience managing projects with high complexity in difficult contexts, with challenging targets, in a multicultural and international environment facing multi-disciplinary technical aspects and areas.Adequate and proven competencies to manage various types of Customers and stakeholders in a multi-cultural and international environment.Thank you for your interest in Hitachi Rail.
