Are you interested in leading the Water Justice Movement? Then read on…. SimaviToo much, too little or too dirty water. Globally, women and girls are hit hardest by climate change and the lack of safe drinking water and toilets. For a quarter of the world's population, access to water, toilets and hygiene is still far from a given, especially as climate change increases the problem. Especially for girls and women.
Simavi is an independent international non-profit organization that works with partners in Africa and Asia on programmes that support local solutions so women and girls can enjoy their human rights to water, a toilet and equal treatment.
The Water Justice FundThe Water Justice Fund (WJF) is a pooled-funding mechanism that positions women and girls at the forefront of climate action. The WJF embraces a reinforcing strategy to resource grassroots solutions to achieve water justice and increase feminist leadership in climate and water. The WJF is an initiative by Simavi and Women Win (a global multidimensional women's fund), both founding members. In line with the ambition to shift power and be locally led, the ambition is that the WJF will be an independent initiative by 2030.

The positionThe Water Justice Fund (WJF) Programme Lead is responsible for the strategic visioning and operational model of the programme, ensuring impact and delivery; for the financial growth, external profiling and influencing and building relevant connections and strategic partnerships.
The Water Justice Fund Programme Lead is accountable to the Managing Director and coaches other programme staff such as the Water Justice Fund Programme Officer.

Strategic vision for the Water Justice Fund Programme (10%) Ensures the Water Justice Fund has a relevant and fundable future strategy including a Theory of Change (ToC) approaches, an operational plan and partnerships focusing on:Locally Led AdaptationClimate adaptation financingMobilizing, influencing and learningParticipatory grantmakingResponsible for the Water Justice Fund to be connected to and influences external actors relevant to the programme in countries and globallyEnsures the Water Justice Fund is impactful and adds value to Simavi's programme, influencing and learning ambitionsResponsible for the growth of the Water Justice Fund programme in content and strengthening its impactEnsures the Water Justice Fund portfolio grows financially, this includes global and local fundraisingIs responsible for working in close collaboration with the fundraiser(s)Is accountable for the content of proposal and opportunitiesResponsible for programme related external engagement profiling and influencing including building existing and new Strategic Partnerships (25%) Ensures the Water Justice Fund is connected and influences external actors in countries, regions and at a global level aligned to ambitions and targets·Ensures Partnerships are developed and supported to deliver and to increasingly take on leadership roles in the Water Justice Fund (including the Water Justice Governance Board).Responsible for programme management and impact (25%) Ensures the Water Justice Fund is delivered in an accountable and timely mannerCoordinates and collaborates with others in a networked mannerEnsures MEAL targets and KPIs are set and deliveredResponsible for strategic alignment and collaboration with other Simavi programmes and for embedding Shifting the Power in programme strategy, approaches, partnerships and culture 10%) Works strategically and collaboratively with Simavi staff (and partners in a networked mannerPromotes and adopts strategies and approaches that will enhance Simavi's shift-the-power ambition in our programmes and in our ways of working and partnerships with others.Knowledge and experienceRelevant Academic level of educationStrategic thinker that pursues funding opportunities with a track record in fundraisingA minimum of 5 years of senior programme development in a management role in Africa and AsiaExperience in performing at global, regional and country levelThematic expertise and experience in Locally led Adaptation and climate adaptation financingDemonstrable experience in building strategic partnerships, including in Africa and Asia and globallyAffinity and experience with 'Shift the Power' and feminist leadershipExperience in managing and engaging in remote and hybrid teams, including with strategic partnersSpecific skills/competences:Forward thinking and innovativePro-active and excellent networkerExcellent verbal, reading and writing skills in English.What do we offer?An exciting and challenging position in an international working environment. We offer a contract for one year as a start, with the option for extending, for 36 hours per week. The salary range is between € 4.373,97 and € 6.447,91.- gross per month on a fulltime basis of 36 hours per week. The position in the salary scale depends on the number of relevant years of working experience. Simavi also offers: 22,5 days of vacation per year (fulltime basis), 8% holiday allowance, a mobile phone allowance, commuting allowance for days worked at the office, a pension insurance and a disability insurance.
