The main goals of the EMEA Engineering team are to develop new products or product variants that will strengthen our position in the market as well as to support other departments (Sales, Manufacturing, Quality) in all product engineering related matters.
As part of the EMEA engineering team, your focus will be on pump design. You will be the main reference for some product series, many of which are manufactured abroad. Your responsibility will include the correct definition of drawings and specifications for the products as well as the definition, validation, and implementation of design changes or new product variants. To do this, you will count on the support of the experienced engineering team in Dueville (Italy), and you will need to collaborate with other engineering teams abroad, specifically in Izmir (Turkey).
Key Responsibilities Understands existing pump designs and critical dimensions and characteristics. Understands pump assembly processes and controls. Visits production sites and creates collaborative relationships with the key stakeholders (Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing). Verifies existing drawings and technical documentation and modifies it to include tolerances and control specifications in coordination with the production plant. Is responsible for the release of drawings and technical documentation. Proposes ideas for new developments and product modifications to improve the competitiveness of our products (cost reduction, quality improvement,…). Defines technical solutions on new developments or product modifications along with the Project Team. Manages design changes and new developments from a technical perspective. Understands pumping systems (pump-motor-electronic drive) and the interactions between the components. Understands customer technical needs. Supports Manufacturing, Sales, and Service/Quality departments on product specific issues. Coordinates with Franklin Electric Engineering Global organization, especially concerning certification activities. Participates in analysis of products from main competitors. Creates and manages DFMEA, DVP&R and other related technical documents working together with the engineering team. Understands the legal requirements of products in the reference markets. Verifies conformity to standards, Directives or legal requirements of our products. Skills Knowledge and Expertise Passion and skills for technical matters and product design. Precision, reliability and organization skills are required. Good communication skills, team player. Knows product development tools such as CAD-CAE, DFMEA, tolerance stack up analysis, DVP&R, etc. Knows various manufacturing processes (casting, machining, molding, etc.). Good problem-solving abilities, capacity to organize effectively his/her own work and time. Reads, writes, and speaks English fluently. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related degree (required). Ideally 2-3 years of experience on design duties in Engineering or R&D department. Experience in 3D modeling (Creo, Pro/E and/or SolidWorks) would be an advantage. Computer Skills Knowledge of the basic MS office tools (Excel, Word, Powerpoint). Certificates and Licenses None.
