JOB PURPOSE Reporting to the Senior LG PD Manager, this position will deliver the end-to-end product development process in their respective category within Burberry Manifattura Product Development function.
The person identified will be responsible for respecting the operational calendar that regulates the activities, times and resources to be used in all phases of product development, taking care of the creation of prototypes and samples.
They will interact with the LG Studio designers in London on the development of leather goods, small leather goods, tech accessories, and belts.
RESPONSIBILITIES Examine and interpret the inputs sent by the Design office (drawings) and implement the related requests.
Interface with the internal and external interlocutors responsible for the creation of prototypes and/or samples.
Create a close relationship with the style office by becoming a point of reference for designers.
Collaborate with the pattern model-makers so that the information/indications on the technical characteristics of the finished product are respected.
Make sure that the materials chosen are suitable for the type of product.
Compile BOMs of prototypes and samples on PLM: Respecting prebuy needs and prioritising activities based on the desired floorset.
Take part in the product sign-off meeting with Design and Merch and ensure all necessary information is updated in the BOM and communicated to wider teams.
Collaborate with the Product Engineering team to ensure all trials and requests after the Pass-off meeting are actioned, leveraging their technical knowledge and negotiating any aesthetic changes to protect the design vision.
Collaborate with external suppliers and the internal atelier to ensure the creation of prototypes and samples in accordance with the style requests, within the right timescales.
Work closely with the costing department to ensure suitable alternatives are developed and presented to the studio to improve margins.
PERSONAL PROFILE Ability to work in partnership with Senior Designers, understanding and interpreting their creative aesthetic and design vision and translating this to teams and vendors.
Technical capability and product knowledge with ability to confidently influence the Design team and provide on-the-spot solutions in: Leather goods construction, leather/materials knowledge linked to shape and performance.
Hardware development in metal and alternative materials linked to the final goods developments in support to the internal HDW Technicians.
Experience managing vendor relationships, delivering clear briefs and leveraging relationships to meet demands.
Able to manage within a budget with commercial awareness and understanding of product cost, achieving a balance between creativity and commercial implications throughout the product development process.
Demonstrated experience working on site with vendors and operational knowledge of factories, delivering clear briefs and leveraging relationships and availability to meet demands.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to negotiate with credibility, share information effectively, and work confidently with cross-functional teams.
In-depth knowledge of fashion and products in relevant category, knowledge of trends, the market, the luxury consumer, and peer awareness.
Computer skills: PLM, Excel, InDesign.
Languages: Italian & English advanced professional proficiency.
