The focus of this graduate position is on footwear design and development.WHAT YOU NEED:Graduated, or due to graduate, from a degree programme in product development or design, textiles, footwear design, product engineering, industrial engineering, or other related discipline, between the years 2022 to 2025.Working knowledge or high level of proficiency in Spanish is required.Proficiency in English is a distinct advantage.Open to working internationally in accordance with business needs.Ability to demonstrate leadership capabilities.Strong commercial acumen.A growth mindset, with a passion for learning.Comfortable within an ever-changing, dynamic environment.Applicants must have a right to work in Italy, Ireland, and UK, i.e.
must fulfil any relevant visa/work permit requirements in the relevant jurisdiction.PROGRAMME OUTLINE:This is a 2-year structured programme which aims to develop your technical and leadership skills.You will begin your journey at our head office in Westport, Co. Mayo, Ireland, where you will gain an understanding of Portwest via a structured leadership training program and exposure to each of our business functions.
This will grow your understanding of the organisation, its departments, divisions, products, organisational structure, and our leadership team, our people and our culture.After your initial induction period at company headquarters, you will join our product development department and begin the development of your technical skills.
Our Portwest design hubs are located both in Westport Co. Mayo, and Manchester, UK.
Portwest acquired leading Italian safety footwear company, Base Protection Srl in 2020.
Base Protection, which operates factories in Italy and Albania, is headquartered in Barletta.The purpose of the graduate position will be to learn from each of our product teams, with particular emphasis on footwear design and development in collaboration with Base Protection.
