Hauptaufgaben Incumbent ensures that all resale items with the produce department are cleaned, trimmed, sorted, packaged and displayed.
Designs promotional displays, and groups and arranges produce depending on the types of fruit and vegetables in season, average quantities purchased, and shelf life of the products.
He/she determines most appropriate packaging of items for displays depending on such factors as kind of packaging necessary, shelf life, eye appeal to the patron and cost of packaging.
Is responsible for technical and administrative supervision over the operation of the department and the ordering, receipt, storage, processing, pricing, display, inventory of all produce, working supplies and equipment items.
Incumbent establishes duty schedules and advises employees of unusual workload requirements to assure an adequate workforce on duty during all hours of operation; devises and implements changes to improve work flow and to accommodate peak workload periods such paydays and pre-holiday shopping periods.
Resolves informal complaints, problems and grievances.
Determines training needs for subordinates.
Ensures achievement of all equal employment opportunity goals.
Establishes selling prices, considering such factors as invoice cost price and analysis of record of operation and losses from trimming, culling, and spoilage.
He/she maintains the produce processing area, display cases and storage rooms in a neat, orderly, and sanitary condition.
Ensures that proper safety practices are followed while using power trimmers, garbage disposal, knives, etc.
Conducts daily or more frequent inspections of area of responsibility to ensure continued compliance with current sanitation and safety directives policies.
Determines training needs for subordinates.
Schedules and approves leave, completes performance appraisals, initiates requests to fill vacancies, selects new employees and assures their proper placement and utilization.
Counsels employees, adjusts informal complaints and grievances through discussion with employees and union representatives.
Takes disciplinary action as required and initiates awards as appropriate.
Maintains production records and reports.
NOTE: Tour of duty will be 40 hours per week, including weekends and holidays, as follows: Mon, Tue, Wed, and Thu 1100-2000, including a 1-hour uncompensated lunch break.
Fri and Sat OFF, Sun 1100-2000 including a 1-hour uncompensated lunch break.
Qualifikationsanforderungen MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet the qualification requirements in the "Qualification Standards" published by U.S Office of Personnel Management, as summarized below.
EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have a minimum of 1 year of Specialized Experience equivalent to at least the UA-06 grade level.
Specialized Experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
