The United Nations Humanitarian Response Depot (UNHRD) is a network of strategically located hubs established to support humanitarian organizations and the broader international community in responding to emergencies and crises.
UNHRD provides essential services such as storage, easy access to critical supplies, and technical assistance.THE ROLETo coordinate UNHRD network procurement activities in the most effective, efficient and compliant manner.
The position holder will provide hub or network-wide data analysis, technical guidance, and capacity building for procurement-related activities, coordinating local and regional procurement operations.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIESProvide operational coordination and administrative services to support procurement projects and activities, following standard processes and contributing to the effective procurement of goods and services.Identify and recommend potential suppliers, and compile data/documents to support the selection of suppliers, ensuring standard processes are followed.Review, record, and prioritize purchasing requests, and provide support to requisitioners, in order to procure the appropriate goods and services at the lowest cost to UNHRD.Contribute to negotiations with new suppliers on terms and conditions of orders, alongside a senior officer, to obtain the best terms and lowest costs for UNHRD and its partners.Prepare Purchase Orders, contracts, and any supporting documentation for approval by the appropriate stakeholder, and approve purchases within delegated authority, to enable the swift purchase of goods and services.Resolve issues related to delivered goods, using initiative, liaising with all parties, and following standard processes, to ensure timely and accurate resolution of problems.Collect, analyze and report data to enable informed decision-making by Procurement Officers and ensure consistency, accuracy of information presented to stakeholders.Maintain relationships with internal counterparts to support the alignment of procurement activities with wider UNHRD activities and ensure a coherent approach to meeting emergency preparedness and response requirements.Supervise the work of support staff, providing practical advice and guidance, to ensure individual and team objectives are delivered to agreed standards and deadlines.Provide technical guidance and support to procurement teams across different hubs.
Develop and conduct training sessions to build capacity and ensure consistent application of procurement policies and procedures.Follow standard emergency preparedness practices to support WFP to quickly respond and deploy food and needed resources to affected areas at the onset of crises.Monitor procurement processes to ensure adherence to established procedures and compliance with WFP standards.
Provide oversight and support to ensure high standards of procurement accuracy and accountability.QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCEEducationCompletion of secondary school education.
Additional training in procurement, supply chain management, or related field is desirable.ExperienceMinimum 6 years of experience in procurement, supply chain management, or related areas.
Experience in an international organization is an asset.LanguageProficiency in English and in Italian.
Knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.SPECIFIC ROLE REQUIREMENTSEssentials:Experience with warehouse and inventory managementExperience managing vendor contractsStrong analytical skills with ability to create accurate and timely reportsCollaborates effectively with colleagues, has strong influence and capacity building skills.Ability to address and resolve issues efficiently.Strong organizational and coordination skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.Desirable:Holding a CIPS certification or any similar procurement certification is an advantage.Experience working with Software as a Service (SaaS) platforms such as SAP Procurement software is an advantage.TERMS AND CONDITIONSWFP offers a competitive compensation package which will be determined by the contract type and selected candidate's qualifications and experience.

Salary scale: UN - Salary ScaleApplicants must be:Italian Residents holding a valid passport and/or identity card, and;Reside within commuting distance (100-kilometer radius or distance that can be covered within 1.5 hours by car or public transport under average conditions of traffic, weather, and roads) to the office location at the duty station World Food Programme, UNHRD Brindisi, Ex SS 16 Km 906.9, 72100 Brindisi, Italy).
If not residing within commuting distance at the time of application, candidates must be willing to relocate to Brindisi, Italy, at their own cost before taking up the assignment.
WFP shall not be responsible for any costs associated with such relocation nor shall WFP assist or otherwise be involved in obtaining residency status or legal work permits.
