Situation in organization:Reports to the Technical Manager
Job dimensionsProvides process and project engineering support to maximize operational efficiency, continuously identify, evaluate, and implement opportunities to improve safety, quality, cost, and capacity. Collaborate with technical staff, business group, corporate technology, and consultants to ensure product quality and customer-focused support. Support plant day-to-day processes including batch management and manual operations to ensure safety in all aspects of operations. Backup for Operations Manager.
ActivitiesSafety and Environmental (15%)Improve process safety at the site by leading and participating in all process safety programs such as; C.A.R.E., incident investigation, MOC, process hazard analysis, and other process safety activities. Spend time on the plant floor ensuring people are following safety policies. Propose actions to reduce safety and environmental risks. Ensure safety-critical items are up to date (PRV inventory/calculations, Critical Interlock checks etc).
Process Development (15%)Lead small CAPEX projects from concept, feasibility, design, and execution including knowledge of Stage-Gate Process. Assist with large CAPEX as needed. Organize industrial trials allowing the feasibility studies of the new products, projects, approval of new materials, new suppliers, at the best cost while ensuring the quality of the products.
Plant Process Support (70%)Process owner for assigned equipment and knowledge of all site processes. Regularly engage with operators on the plant floor to learn, optimize, and troubleshoot process. Provide training for operators. Create, review, and update SOPs, batch sheets, and other procedures to drive standardization of all process operations. Maintain the technical process knowledge for the facility and the product line including SAP recipe management. Support DCS (DeltaV) system and Aspen IP.21 historian system including batch reporting. Conduct and use MOC process to document and control process changes. Provide process support during periods of abnormal site management. Support and promote HES reporting and investigations at the site. Support the plant in the management of product quality and other quality issues including root cause analysis. Coordinate at the site the variable cost and energy improvement programs in support of corporate initiatives. Subject Matter Expert for process and work with other site engineers to keep updated the process documentation of the plant (mass and thermal balance, technology manual, P&IDs, etc.) as required by PSM/RMP and corporate policies.
Context and environmentThis role is based in Piedmont, SC Bostik Facility. The job involves the ability to climb stairs and ladders, wearing of a full face respirator, work in an industrial environment requiring FRC and other PPE in addition to time spent in the office. Comply with all regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and internal policies.
