Maintains smooth operation of local area, worldwide, and virtual private networks (VPN).
Plans, evaluates, and coordinates installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication network.
Maintains technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
May propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings.
Prepares or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions.
Provides regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems.
This position can be filled at a level 3 or a level 4 and will be a long-term expatriate opportunity, including Flight Arrangement(s), Household Good Shipment, HOLA, COLA, and other incentives for working this assignment overseas.
Basic Qualifications for a Level 3: Must have a minimum of 9 years experience with a HS Diploma/GED but would consider a Bachelor's Degree with 5 years experience Requires US or NATO Secret Clearance to start (Must be able to obtain a US Top Secret or NATO COSMIC within a year).
Must be able to work any shift during 24 hour operations Using network management tools to monitor hardware devices, virtual machines, and network connections.
Basic understanding of networking fundamentals and Cisco IOS commands Basic understanding of Linux/UNIX commands Configuring router and switch interfaces in accordance with written documentation Troubleshoot networking equipment, including switches, routers, Cisco Nexus/Catalyst switches, and firewalls Working knowledge of spanning trees, trunking, routing protocols, and IP subnetting Experience using Microsoft Windows, VMWare ESXi and/or Active Directory Experience with WANs, encryption devices, multicast, OSPF, and Wireshark Assisting Field Engineers with troubleshooting activities Effectively respond to work schedule changes as needed to support mission requirements Effectively communicate with a variety of military and government customers Work effectively in small teams Must display a high level of initiative, work well with others, and take ownership of problems and proactively work them to resolution Knowledge of Information Security best practices Proven track record of troubleshooting skills Familiarity with SIPRNet, other DOD networks or NATO networks CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA certifications Basic Qualifications for a Level 4: Must have a minimum of 13 years experience with a HS Diploma/GED but would consider a Bachelor's Degree with 9 years experience Requires US or NATO Secret Clearance to start (Must be able to obtain a US Top Secret or NATO COSMIC within a year).

Maintain technical expertise in diverse network and computer hardware and software areas, including interconnection and interfacing with various devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, gateways, etc Evaluate and report on new communications technologies to enhance network capabilities Ability to read, understand, and execute detailed technical documentation such as checklists and operational procedures Knowledge of the Linux command line interface standard toolsets Demonstrated experience in the design and execution of network engineering configuration changes and documentation in a complex IT environment Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment with other highly motivated network engineers and independently on large field projects Salary Range: $88,600 - $164,900 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
