As a Principal Modeling Engineer in our Performance Digital Power team, you will be a key player driving innovation and vetting technologies focused on delivering best in class VR's for cutting edge AI/compute ASIC's. You will engage cross functionally with a diverse team including systems engineering, IC design, application, packaging, technology and marketing teams and provide look ahead capability in the areas of electrical, thermal magnetic and mechanical modeling. The role will manage a team of engineers specialized to build models for monolithic power ICs, System-In-Package power devices and power modules starting from technology ingredients and evolving to customers or internally oriented models to prevent signal integrity, thermal and reliability issues or to optimize the power performances. Part of the role responsibility is also the correlation and the collection of the necessary fitting data. The update, the tuning and the progressive enhancement of the models along the development process of the product are part of the duties as well.
Key Responsibilities This role supports both technology pathfinding and execution by providing comprehensive modeling throughout the product lifecycle. Key responsibilities include:
Establish methodology and tools for comprehensive modeling approach.Data analysis and data collections from products measurements.Automatic measurements set-up for data fitting.Build 3D mechanical models.Deliver electrical and thermal models.Run models and provide reports on performance to support both product design and customer facing activities.Support modeling needs associated with the development of ultra dense power design including mechanical-thermal stress, EMC and EMI.Qualifications
This role requires deep technical strength in high performance power management environment related to CPU's and other high current ASIC's. Broad technical capability/exposure will be combined with excellent technical communication skills. Typical requirements are a minimum of 15-20 years of relevant semiconductor and systems experience. MS degree in engineering (EE – power electronics preferred), with PhD degree highly preferred. Former experience in Multiphysics EDA tools and LABVIEW/PYTHON are appreciated.
