IRCCS San Raffaele Scientific Institute in Milan, Italy, is seeking an AIRC-funded Pre or Postdoctoral fellow to join the Experimental Hepatology Unit under the direction of Giovanni Sitia.
The main interest of our laboratory is to define the cellular and molecular determinants of metastatic spread of tumor cells of colorectal carcinoma (CRC), pancreatic cancer (PDAC) and breast cancer (BC) to the liver and other organs susceptible to metastasis, such as lung and brain, in order to develop innovative perioperative immunotherapies for long-term control of these diseases.
Main activities: The proposed projects build on our recent findings (Tran et al, Elife 2022) on the use of perioperative immunotherapies to prevent CRC liver metastases.
We now aim to define additional combinatorial immunotherapies that include the use of pharmacologic IFNAR1 stabilization, checkpoint inhibitors, and adoptive tumor-targeted cell therapies (TCR-targeted and CAR -T cells) to develop novel therapeutic approaches for the long-term control of metastatic cancer.
The successful candidate will be part of a team of investigators with complementary skills in cancer biology, immunology and pathology.
Who we are looking for: Post-doctoral Fellow: Applicants should have a PhD in a relevant subject (e.g.
immunology, molecular oncology or related field of life science), a proven record of publication in recognized journals Pre-doctoral Fellow: Prior experience in experimental research (mammalian cell culture, molecular techniques such as nucleic acid extraction, qPCR, flow cytometry, animal handling) Enthusiasm for science and research as well as motivation and willingness to contribute to a dynamic and pleasant working environment are highly valued qualities in our laboratory Work details: Type of contract: collaboration Duration: 12 months Place of work: IRCCS San Raffaele Hospital, Via Olgettina, number 60 - Milan (Italy) At San Raffaele Scientific Institute, a world-renowned center of excellence for clinical and scientific activities, we believe that considering diversity and promoting an open and inclusive environment is crucial to our success.
