A fully-funded 1-year postdoc position (with possibility to be extended to two years) is available at the Institute of Electronics, Information Engineering and Telecommunications (IEIIT) of the National Research Council (CNR) of Italy, in Pisa.
The postdoc position is funded through DEMETRA - an Integrated Platform for Smart Nutrient Estimation in Agriculture 4.0 featuring Smartphone-based Spectroscopy, Machine Learning as-a-Service, and Open Data (funded by Italian Ministry of Education and Research – Bando Prin 2022 – D.D.

DEMETRA aims at the development of advanced machine learning (ML) methods for spectroscopic signal processing to be employed for on-the-field low-cost smart leaf nutrient monitoring for resilient agriculture 4.0 systems.
The ML methods will be developed in cooperation with other project partners and will be implemented within an ad hoc open source cloud-based ML-as-a-service platform connected with an ad hoc lab-on-smartphone designed within the project.
The postdoc researcher will work in an interdisciplinary environment, in collaboration with telecommunication, electronics, and computer science engineers of CNR-IEIIT, the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Pisa, and the Department of Engineering of the University of Messina, under the guidance of Dr. Stefania Matteoli (CNR-IEIIT).
Within this framework, the postdoc researcher will be in charge of the design and implementation of the ML methods.
Requirements PhD relevant to the position topics.
Experience in signal processing and machine learning.
