It is expected to have on-site interactions, with the possibility to work remotely for some periods.DescriptionThis position involves collaborative research in signal processing with specific emphasis on physiological data.
Biometric recognition is expected to represent a prominent field of application.
Competences in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) methodologies are needed to handle the expected research tasks.Data collectable through wearable devices must be treated to extract information that allows for estimates on the health status of a subject, as well as discriminative characteristics that allow for the identification or verification of the identity of their owner.
Techniques employed to acquire the relevant data include electrocardiography (ECG), electroencephalography (EEG), photoplethysmography (PPG), sismocardiography (SCG), and more.Emphasis will be given to developing and evaluating biometric systems operating continuously.ResponsibilitiesCandidates must be highly motivated and creative individuals with research experience in fields such as electronic engineering, computer science, telecommunications, and similar.
They must also be goal-oriented, self-reliant, and capable of working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research setting.The candidate must design and apply artificial intelligence and machine learning approaches tailored to physiological signals acquired using wearable devices such as ECG, EEG, PPG, etc.QualificationsThe candidate must have research signal processing experience, with specific emphasis on the research topics proposed in this call.
The candidate should also have strong programming skills in Matlab and/or Python (preferable), practical written and oral communication skills in English, and publication records in relevant areas.This position is for twelve months (expected to start around April 2025).
