Postdoctoral position in Optical Imaging of Neurotransmitter Function - (2400002Y) Commitment contract: collaboration contract – up to 24 months, renewable Location: Rovereto (TN) WHO WE ARE At IIT we work enthusiastically to develop human-centered Science and Technology to tackle some of the most pressing societal challenges of our times and transfer these technologies to the production system and society.
Our Genoa headquarters is strictly inter-connected with our 11 centers around Italy and two outer-stations based in the US for a truly interdisciplinary experience.
YOUR TEAM You will be working within a multicultural and multidisciplinary group, composed of Neuroscientists, Physicists and Biologists, each contributing their expertise to conduct joint research.
The Functional Neuroimaging Research Line, at Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (www.iit.it) is looking for an ambitious Postdoctoral researcher to join its neuroscience team (www.fnimg.iit.it), in Rovereto, Italy.
Research at the Gozzi lab is aimed at understanding how the brain works as an integrated network in health and disease.
The Gozzi lab addresses this question by combining causal neural manipulations in rodents with functional neuroimaging methods (fMRI, fUS), multimodal recordings, and cutting-edge neuro-computational approaches.
The goal of this project is to implement widefield optical imaging of neurotransmitter activity in the mouse neocortex.
This work will be carried out in Rovereto (Italy), with key input by Prof. Evelyn Lake, at Yale University (USA).
Technical help from onsite experts in design of advanced optical technologies will be provided.
This research is ultimately aimed at understanding how endogenous modulatory transmission controls the functional organization and dynamics of large scale brain network.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS PhD degree in Neuroscience, Bioengineering or equivalent Prior hands-on experience in in vivo experimental neuroscience methods Ability and motivation to work independently as well as collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team Good English language skill, both spoken and written, is required ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Proficiency in coding languages commonly used in image analysis, such as Python, R, or MATLAB will be highly valued Knowledge of brain imaging techniques (e.g., widefield optical imaging) and concepts in systems neuroscience is a plus High motivation and ability to work both independently and as part of a team Motivation to pursue a career in academic research will be considered a preferential quality COMPENSATION PACKAGE Competitive salary package for international standards Private health care coverage Wide range of staff discounts Candidates from abroad or Italian citizens who permanently work abroad and meet specific requirements, may be entitled to a deduction from taxable income of up to 90% from 6 to 13 years WHAT'S IN FOR YOU?
