THE ROLE You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group composed of material scientists, physicists, neuroscientists, electronic engineers, computational scientists, biotechnologists, and biomedical engineers. The main aim will be correlating multifunctional signals in 3D printed neurochips for next generation studies on neural degeneration via spectroscopy and electrophysiological recordings.
Your main responsibility will be:
Develop a Raman spectroscopy system that can be used in environments with limited space, including surgery rooms for research purposes.Use the developed system to collect Raman spectroscopy datasets from murine models using implantable fiber optics.Develop algorithms to distinguish between different brain regions based only on Raman spectra.ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS A PhD in Photonics, Physics, Nanotechnologies or related disciplines.Previous experience in the development of optical systems.Previous experience on Raman spectroscopy.Previous experience on Raman spectroscopy for tissue.Coding skills in Python, Matlab, and C++.Good command in spoken and written English.ADDITIONAL SKILLS Strong problem-solving attitude.High motivation to learn.Spirit of innovation and creativity.Good time and priority management.Ability to work in a challenging and international environment.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment.COMPENSATION PACKAGE Competitive salary package for international standards.Private health care coverage depending on your role and contract.Candidates from abroad or Italian citizens who have carried scientific research activity permanently abroad and meet specific requirements may be entitled to a deduction from taxable income of up to 90% from 6 to 13 years.Please submit your application using the online form and including a detailed CV, university transcripts, cover letter, and contact details of 2 references.
