APPLICATION CLOSING DATE: 30 July 2024 The Human Technopole Foundation (HT) is a new interdisciplinary research institute, created and supported by the Italian government, whose aim is to develop innovative strategies to promote human health and aging through a multidisciplinary and integrated approach, combining genomics, computational and structural biology and neuroscience, as well as data and decisions sciences.



The Health Data Science Centre at HT has been planned in partnership with Politecnico di Milano and will develop several lines of research, with the aim to help deliver a step-change in health data science in Italy. The Centre's mission is to systematically generate, mobilise, and harvest "big data" allowing agnostic and dynamic collection of information, to deliver a new class of research that will enable a better understanding of the clinical, molecular, behavioural and environmental determinants of non-communicable diseases, for both patient and public benefit.

We are seeking to recruit a Post-doc in Health Data Science with strong quantitative skills and epidemiological knowledge to support the activities of the Di Angelantonio – Ieva Group. The post holder will hold a PhD Degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g. (bio)Statistics, Data Science, Epidemiology, Public Health, Medical Statistics) and will help the group's PIs define the direction of the scientific work, conduct research, analyse data, prepare work for publication and disseminate results. The work of the post-holder is expected to lead to high-impact publications.

Specific examples of data analysis include: exploiting secondary databases at population level for assessing i) novel and emerging risk factors for association with chronic diseases, ii) healthcare pathways and iii) importance of dynamic information within population disease evolution; investigating and developing novel risk prediction models for a range of chronic diseases; integrating clinical, social and environmental data with other risk factors to assess causality of associations.

The ideal candidate is someone with an outstanding academic track record and an interest in population based research and data driven evidence in healthcare management.

Key tasks and responsabilities: Designing and leading analyses of secondary databases to investigate specific hypotheses relating to emerging / novel risk factors and chronic diseasesWorking closely with colleagues to help interpret findings and draft manuscripts and other reports for publicationWorking with statisticians and other colleagues at Human Technopole to help develop and implement methodologically fitting analysis strategies for planned investigationsAnticipating, communicating and solving problems that might potentially arise with the analysis or other aspects of research projectsContributing to reports, presentations and publications by preparing numerical and graphical summaries using suitable computer softwareAssisting with the preparation of grant applications to secure further funding for relevant projectsHelping to establish new projects and research consortia relating to risk factorsReviewing, analysing or presenting information on projects when requested Mandatory requirements PhD in a relevant subject (e.g. Data Science, Engineering, (Bio-)statistics, Medical Statistics, Epidemiology, Public Health)or your PhD is going to be awarded in the next 6 months.A sound understanding of statistical modeling concepts, particularly in relation to chronic disease epidemiology Strong quantitative skills Experience of statistical or other programming languages to manipulate large datasets; Fluency in English - HT is an international institute Preferred requirements Prior experience working with large-scale studies and secondary databases/registriesHigh-level report writing and presentation skillsA track record of authoring scientific publications Organizational and social skills Ability to work accurately, with attention to detailSelf-motivated, able to work independently and organize own workloadGood team playerGood communication skillsAbility to work in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment, with sensitivity and respect for diversity Application instructions Please apply by sending:
