YOUR TEAM
You'd be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where biomedical, mechanical, and electrical engineers, neuroscientists, computational scientists, and robotics experts collaborate, each with their expertise, to carry out common research.
The Electronic Design Laboratory (EDL) Facility is coordinated by Marco Crepaldi, who has, together with the researchers and engineers of the facility, extensive experience in the design of electronic systems for application to scientific research.
The research focuses on the design of software applications on smartphones and mobile devices for a navigation system for people in the context of smart cities. The software will interface to a wearable electronic system that will enable, using dedicated sensors and intelligent interaction with online maps, improvement of the autonomy of elder visually impaired people.
Within the team, your main responsibilities will be:
The design of application-level software associated with the electronic systems developed during the project both for general-purpose systems and portable devices (smartphones, tablets) The proactive cooperation in a multidisciplinary team involving mechanical and software engineers The writing of the documentation of the implemented software to enable trials on subjects ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS A PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar disciplines Documented experience on software design for applications for portable devices (development frameworks, Android & iOS development tools and Python programming language) A strong publication record The ability to properly report, organize and publish research data Good command in spoken and written English ADDITIONAL SKILLS Good knowledge on gitlab, github, and SVN Basic knowledge on Electronic PCB and schematics Good communication skills Strong problem-solving attitude High motivation to learn Spirit of innovation and creativity Good in time and priority management Ability to work in a challenging and international environment Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment COMPENSATION PACKAGE Competitive salary package for international standards (Salary can include bonus option depending on your role and contract) Private health care coverage (depending on your role and contract) Wide range of staff discounts Candidates from abroad or Italian citizens who permanently work abroad and meet specific requirements, may be entitled to a deduction from taxable income of up to 90% from 6 to 13 years.
