YOUR TEAM You will be working within the Unit For Visually Impaired People (UVIP) Research Line, a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group led by Dr. Monica Gori, who has extensive experience in the field of psychophysics for multisensory processing.
The unit is multidisciplinary at its very roots, comprising both neuroscience-oriented and technology-oriented profiles.
The research project you will focus on the quantitative characterization of individuals, in order to develop and validate user-centered technologies and rehabilitation training protocols.
Your main responsibilities will be: Quantitative characterization of sensory and cognitive status of typical and impaired individuals using statistics and data science to analyze multimodal data (e.g.
behavioral, cognitive, motor, perceptual, and physiological data).
WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU SHINE A PhD in computer science, statistics, computer engineering, software engineering, biomedical engineering, or related fields.
Proven experience with at least one programming language among Python, R, and MATLAB for data science.
Experience with the statistical analysis of multifactorial data from mixed experimental designs.
Experience with Bayesian statistics and Bayesian models.
Experience dealing with sparse and/or hierarchical datasets.
Working knowledge of written and spoken English.
Good communication skills and the ability to integrate within a multidisciplinary international research group.
EXTRA AWESOME Experience with machine learning techniques.
Experience with neurophysiological, computer vision, motion capture or eye-tracking data.
