Overview of the roleAccountable to the Engineering Director for the Technical Discipline quality, integrity, capability, competency and performance of his/her Unit.
Accountable to the Engineering Director for the Technical Contents of all deliverables within the scope of his/her Unit.
Accountable for the management of the Plant Thermal-Hydraulics Unit's delivery team.
Main responsibilitiesTo be accountable and responsible for the thermal-hydraulic studies in support of:the assessment with appropriate methodologies and tools of the thermal-hydraulic performance of the newcleo LFR systems, with focus on the primary system and the fuel route, in normal and accidental conditionthe improvement of the modelling capabilities of the unit to keep up with the data requires by other units for design purposesthe contribution to the V&V efforts made in collaboration with other designated disciplinary areasthe support to other Units and Functions for advice• To ensure the performance of engineering activities related to the Unit technical discipline(s) in accordance with the best industry practice:
Responsible for unit resources, management, development and training.Responsible for the quality of technical work with adherence to relevant standards and legislation, regulatory and contractual requirements.To ensure the final quality of the set of deliverables in accordance with the efficiency objectives established for each project, the business area and company.To provide guidance of procedures and standards which are the most applicable for the development of the development and substantiation of the design.Responsible for the checking and approval of the scope readiness for process stages.Responsible for the acceptance and approval of the engineered solution, matching the functional and safety functional requirements, and chair of compliance reviews.To escalate issues and seek advice from the Engineering Director when encountering complex problems.To support team members in technical discussion with External Entities.To identify the possible need for the acquisition of new knowledge/updates and of technical Know-How development for his/her unit.To be capable of properly identifying requirements, scope of works and costs relevant to his/her disciplines for contract execution.Responsible for all schedules of delivery within his/her unit's tasks / assignments.Able to lead continuous improvement initiatives on a day-by-day basis relevant to the technical discipline(s) of the Unit.To apply the company procedures for Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety Systems and Organizational Models.Responsible for technical contents of deliverables within the Unit in terms of D4M/D4P (design for manufacturing/design for purchase).Line management of allocated staff and embedded contractors.Experience requiredEducation:
Relevant Science/ Engineering Degree Qualified (or Equivalent).Languages:
For all locations: Working knowledge of English is a must.For location in Italy: Fluent Italian, French is a plus.For location in France: Fluent French, Italian is a plus.For location in UK: Italian or French is a plus.• Demonstrable skills in similar unit management role:
Significant relevant technical experience, particularly in the fields of nuclear reactor deterministic safety assessment by thermal-hydraulic computer codes (preferably including metal cooled systems), preferably under regulatory frameworks.Nuclear Industry Experience essential.Leadership and management of thermal-hydraulics delivery teams.Specialism in one or more of the following areas:Water-cooled nuclear reactor thermal-hydraulicsMetal-cooled nuclear reactor thermal-hydraulicsDeterministic safety assessment of nuclear reactors by means of computer code simulations of operational and accidental transientsUse of system best-estimate thermal-hydraulics computer codes and application of uncertainty evaluation methodologiesUse of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) codes for nuclear reactor design and safety related applicationsVerification, Validation, Qualification of system TH and/or CFD computer codesDesign and operation of integral and/or separate-effect test facilities for experimental investigation on nuclear reactor thermal-hydraulics.Comprehensive engineering/technical knowledge.Maintains an understanding of the latest technologies and innovations relating to nuclear reactor thermal-hydraulics and deterministic safety assessment.
