PhD Programme in Advanced-Systems Engineering The Free University of Bozen - Bolzano (unibz) was founded in 1997 as a multilingual, internationally oriented institution.
The university promotes the free exchange of ideas and scientific knowledge, linking itself to the European humanities tradition and laying the foundations for its society by promoting respect for democratic principles.
A public competition for the allocation of PhD-positions in Advanced-Systems Engineering is announced, for: 18 positions: 14 will be covered by scholarship, 4 places without scholarship; This PhD Research Programme lasts three years during which the PhD students will actively attend the teaching and scientific activities.
PhD students have the unique opportunity to benefit from the special multilingual environment that the University offers, which includes various events in Italian, German, or other languages (seminars, optional courses, social events, etc.).
Duration: 3 years Research Areas: This international PhD programme trains a new generation of researchers who focus on Mechanical and Manufacturing Systems, Automation and Electronic Systems, and Computer Systems to carry out independent research in the areas of Advanced-Systems Engineering and to give them the opportunity to transfer and exchange knowledge with national and international research centres and industries.
The three-year PhD programme focuses on the study and development of advanced and intelligent systems through an interdisciplinary approach that responds to recent technological developments (e.g., Cyber-Physical-Systems, Industry 4.0, Internet of Things) by integrating the disciplines of mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, information engineering, and computer science.
They are supported by specific skills in mathematics and artificial intelligence.
