TE Connectivity's Purchasing Teams are responsible for obtaining materials, components, equipment and services, gather quotations, examine bids, and award contracts. They perform cost analysis and volume planning for commodities, evaluate vendor reliability and develop new supply sources where required. They coordinate purchasing activities with the manufacturing and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels and monitor cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value. They also look for and recommend cost saving proposals including make vs. buy analysis, alternative sourcing, and vendor evaluation criteria as well as develop specifications for new contract orders.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Act as Core Team Member for New Product Introduction (NPI) projects, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams (Regional and Global) including Business, Engineering, Finance, and Quality. Manage Type II projects in accordance with LEAN principles, coordinating responsibilities and tasks. Coordinate the entire local Core Team and oversee manufacturing processes, including molds, dies, assembly, and supplied components, focusing on technology and procurement tasks. Lead PFMEA and manufacturing risk analysis, emphasizing overall process quality with the Quality team. Make sourcing decisions for suppliers and subcontractors post-request for quote (RFQ). Compile technical inputs for financial calculations, such as cycle times, efficiency, CAPEX, and manufacturing requirements. Assess initial tooling requirements, manage tool and equipment orders, and monitor their timelines. Organize master sample parts, oversee product and process transfers to manufacturing, manage change processes, and document procedures. Maintain full oversight of project BOM costs, monitoring cost variations and implementing cost reduction strategies. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
5-7 years of experience in procurement, process engineering, product engineering, or tool manufacturing. Fluent in English and Italian . Proven track record in project management . Extensive experience working in multicultural, cross-functional teams . Technical expertise in cold forming, turning processes, and/or procurement , as well as stamping (progressive dies and production), is a plus. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
