Marine Technical Support Senior EngineerPosting Date: 20 Sep 2024City: GenovaLocation: Genova, IT, 16129; Napoli, IT, 80142; Roma, IT, 144; Trieste, IT, 34135Contract Type: PermanentDivision: Marine ConsultingLevel of experience: SeniorRINA is currently recruiting for a Marine Technical Support Senior Engineer to join its office in Genoa, Naples, Rome or Trieste, Italy within the Marine Consulting Division.MissionThis role focuses primarily on:Developing activities of support for the RINA Marine Consulting teams across five regions, providing solutions for matters and activities not commonly managed.Industrialization and standardization of new activities in the RINA Marine Consulting (RMC) portfolio by studying the whole process from offers to final outcomes, organizing technical, administrative, and financial activities.Studying new rules and regulations applicable to the marine sector to identify new opportunities and activities for clients.Supporting the review of draft technical and commercial proposals related to main contracts and new activities, as well as budgetary evaluations.Monitoring ongoing projects in RMC and their technical and administrative progress.Supporting Regional Directors in examining and selecting external suppliers.Managing special projects as Project Manager and technical expert.Projects of RINA Marine Consulting cover all aspects of marine sectors from decarbonization to newbuilding surveillance on behalf of Owners, structural analysis, due diligence of assets, and analysis of ship's propulsion.Key AccountabilitiesDeep knowledge of International Rules, Main Flag Administration Rules, and regulations (e.g., USCG, MSA, Italy).Deep knowledge of classification societies rules, IACS structures, and their processes for all kinds of ships.Knowledge of ISO and IEC standards applicable to the marine sector.Developing and reviewing hull structural, stability, machinery, and systems projects, and high-level calculations for ships and marine equipment.Experience in classification and statutory surveys for all kinds of ships, preferably cruise/passenger ships, LNG/LPG/REGAS units, and special purpose ships.Assisting clients during the design and construction phases, providing guidance on technical matters.Performing structural machinery and systems assessments and providing specialist advice within budget constraints and contractual requirements.Reviewing project deliverables and ensuring correct, up-to-date data is used.Understanding and applying project management concepts and providing feedback to project managers.EducationMaster's Degree in Naval Engineering or Mechanical EngineeringQualificationsExperience in Classification Services as Surveyor, Technician, and plan approval matters.Fluent English, both spoken and written, focused on marine sectors.One or more of the following:Sailing experience on board ships as officer or technical responsible.Shipowner superintendent or responsible for technical staff.Shipyard experience as technical responsible for projects.Flag Administration technician/inspector.Classification Society surveyor.Core CompetenciesADDRESS THE WAY - Understand different situations and reinterpret them from various perspectives.BUILD NETWORK - Forge trust relationships across departments and outside the organization.CLIENT INTIMACY - Embrace client needs to ensure satisfaction.EARN TRUST - Consider diverse opinions and remain open to diversity.MAKE EFFECTIVE DECISIONS - Structure activities according to priorities, actions, and constraints.MANAGE EMOTIONS - Recognize and regulate one's own and others' emotions.PIONEER CHANGE - Embrace change and leverage new circumstances.PROMOTE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT - Keep promises and act as a role model.THINK FORWARD - Capitalize on experiences to inform future action plans.With over 5,600 employees and 200 offices in 70 countries worldwide, RINA is a multinational player providing certification, marine classification, product testing, site supervision, vendor inspection, training, and engineering consultancy services.
