RINA is currently recruiting for a Marine Engineer - CFD to join its office in Genoa, Italy within the RINA Marine Digital Solutions Division.
Mission The Engineer for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) develops models and performs CFD calculations according to required standards.
Furthermore, the role has the responsibility of testing the Maine Legacy Systems (i.e.
Leonardo SHIP and Leonardo INFO), assessing and ensuring that the new developments meet the specified requirements.
Key Accountabilities CFD Analysis: Conducting in-depth computational fluid dynamics simulations to model and analyze fluid flow, heat transfer, and related phenomena within marine structures, such as ships, offshore platforms, or other maritime systems.
Performing seakeeping and mooring analyses.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring that CFD analyses adhere to the rules, guidelines, and standards set by the classification society and relevant regulatory bodies.
This involves a thorough understanding of maritime regulations and industry standards.
Modeling and Simulation: Using specialized software tools to model and simulate fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and related aspects to assess the performance and behavior of marine systems under various conditions.
Problem Identification and Resolution: Identifying potential issues or risks related to fluid dynamics in marine structures and proposing solutions or design modifications to address these concerns.
Data Analysis and Interpretation: Analyzing simulation results, interpreting data, and drawing conclusions to provide insights into the behavior of fluids in marine systems.
This analysis is crucial in making informed engineering decisions.
Collaboration and Communication: Working in collaboration with other engineers, naval architects, and design teams to integrate CFD analyses into the design and optimization process.
Communicating findings and recommendations effectively to various stakeholders.
Quality Assurance: Ensuring the accuracy and reliability of CFD models and results by following best practices and validating simulations against empirical data or physical tests.
Documentation and Reporting: Compiling comprehensive reports detailing analysis methodologies, results, and recommendations.
These reports are essential for regulatory compliance and decision-making processes.
Continuous Learning and Improvement: Keeping updated with the latest advancements in CFD tools, techniques, and methodologies to improve the accuracy and efficiency of analyses.
Project Support: Providing support for various projects involving CFD analysis, including assisting in project planning, timelines, and ensuring the quality of deliverables.
Training and Support: Offering guidance and support to junior engineers or team members to enhance their understanding and skills in CFD analysis.
Legacy System Development: Support IT in defining testing protocols for new digital developments.
Coordinate personnel of the operational network involved in testing activities.
Perform specific testing and quality assurance activities to ensure that the new developments of Leonardo SHIP and Leonardo INFO meet the specified requirements and perform effectively before full implementation.
Education Master's Degree in Naval Engineering.
Qualifications Fluent Italian and English language.
Competencies THINK FORWARD: Capitalise on experiences and translate them into action plans for the future.
MAKE EFFECTIVE DECISIONS: Structure activities according to priorities, actions, resources, and constraints.
EARN TRUST: Take everyone's opinion into account and remain open to diversity.
CLIENT INTIMACY: Embrace internal and external client needs, expectations, and requirements to ensure maximum satisfaction.
BUILD NETWORK: Forge trust relationships, across departments, and outside the organization.
ADDRESS THE WAY: Have a big picture of different situations and reinterpret it in a perspective way.
MANAGE EMOTIONS: Recognise one's and other's emotions and express and regulate one's reactions.
