Job Summary: Responsible for the day-to-day communication strategy as it relates to conveying the marketing and communication objectives within designated district to which assigned. Responsible for the communication and execution of HQ driven marketing, events, and social media campaigns while charged with the development, planning and execution of localized marketing efforts and events. As liaison between district stores and HQ plays a critical role ensuring brand standards and execution of guidelines are maintained, while leveraging local partnerships, resources and opportunities to create additional engagement and footstep / business opportunities. Works closely with NEXCOM HQ, District leadership and Navy Exchange stores and external partners to ensure successful launch and implementation of various marketing, advertising and communication initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Key point of contact with NEXCOM HQ in ensuring that both district needs are accurately and effectively integrated into enterprise wide marketing plans, while ensuring that developed plans are communicated to the district in the most effective and efficient manner. Develops and executes integrated and localized marketing plans and campaigns to support specific sales goals and activities working to ensure that all customer touch points speak in one voice and connect with the customer on an engaged level across the District. Ensures District marketing and communication strategies connect with patrons through the entire course of their tour, from initial point of entry through their outbound rotation. As appropriate, develops and implements media relations programs, acting as the main conduit/contact with Public Affairs Office, Office of Counsel, NEXCOM and Navy organizations (i.e. MWR, FFSC, etc.), ensuring that all appropriate rules and regulations are followed while helping to promote the NEX brand across the District. Serves as the primary District POC for coordination with NEXCOM on corporate media campaigns and strategies to include active social media campaigns tied to achieving marketing and sales objectives, messaging, email campaigns and intranet management/usage. Interacts with management team to remain apprised of customer complaints, and may recommend resolutions, and ensures complaints / issues are resolved in a professional and timely manner. Serves as main point of contact for receiving and resolving customer complaints made via social media. Works closely with senior leadership within the District and NEXCOM to articulate marketing / advertising strategies and direction clearly and ensure that district needs and opportunities are met. Leads the development, implementation and measurement of District internal communications channels and programs, developing the plan, managing implementation, assessing effectiveness, reporting on progress, and adjusting the strategy as necessary. Key point of contact for integrating all enterprise driven and localized in store events within respective district to which assigned. Takes the lead to communicate those events through authorized and approved channels of communication including local and NEXCOM PAO, social channels, base and regional command leadership presentation, etc. Natural storyteller, with ability to find or create marketing and communications opportunities. Position requires exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, a high attention to detail and the ability to work with a high level of independence. Key point of contact for those active duty and family members who are new to a base or area, developing new ways to introduce them to the Navy Exchange using approved tools and forms of communication. Must have the ability to be detail oriented, maintain excellent records, strong communication and presentation skills, and possess the ability to implement approved strategies and plans while being able to develop new strategies and plans at a district level as needed and approved by local leadership. Performs other related duties as required to promote sales and traffic growth in the District that contributes to the Enterprise-wide profitability. Position reports to the District Vice President with weekly communication (dotted line) to NEXCOM Manager, Communications Strategy and Manager, Omni Channel Marketing Operations.
The incumbent of this position must file a Financial Disclosure Report (OGE) Form 450, as required.
Minimum Requirements:
Requires General or Education experience PLUS 3 years of Specialized experience as indicated below:
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Three years of experience gained in marketing with a concentration in electronic media or other responsible work which enabled the applicant to gain knowledge of emerging media; experience in working in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented, and highly matrixed environment; and the ability to exercise mature judgment.
OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: 1 year of related academic study above the high school level may be substituted for 9 months of experience up to a maximum of a 4 year bachelor's degree for 3 years of general experience.
AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Three years progressive experience that provided background in integrated marketing and promotion for an online and/or brick and mortar retail environment.
