The Pathways Leadership Internship is a 10-12-week full-time internship in our operations network for enrolled MBA or PhD candidates with 3 to 10 years of experience in a complex role. You will be given a business-critical challenge to find a solution for as well as gaining practical experience of being a leader of large teams. Your internship will conclude by presenting an innovative solution to senior management based on your observations, hands-on involvement, and analytical research within operations. Upon completion of the internship program, your performance will be evaluated. Your performance evaluation, along with role availability, will determine your opportunity to join the full-time Pathways program in 2026.
About the Pathways Program:
Pathways is a three-year program designed to rapidly develop experienced MBA and PhD graduates with the skills needed to be Amazon's next Senior Operations Managers and beyond. This is the opportunity to chart your own course. Pathways members are highly visible to senior leadership through an exclusive mentoring network. They have flexibility with changing roles, sites, and geographies. Through a series of intense, progressively challenging opportunities in our best-in-class operations network, we will stretch your leadership capacity to its full potential. The business lessons you learn and credibility you develop will set you up for accelerated career growth and prepare you for future leadership opportunities within Amazon Operations and beyond.
Your development in the Pathways Program (if you join us full-time after the internship):
Extended onboarding as an Area Manager (front-line leader) until you successfully manage your first peak holiday season. Learn about Amazon Operations from A to Z and lead a team of 50-100 people.Once onboarded, you progress into your role as Operations Manager and will gain experience in leading other managers and approximately 400 team members. Drive improvements in operational processes by working cross-functionally with Amazon technology and engineering teams.Promote to a Senior Operations Manager where you will lead through others to execute regional or network-wide initiatives. With your promotion, you will graduate from the Pathways Program but continue to have access to important mentoring resources.Key job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Lead continuous improvement projects which could impact safety, productivity, quality, and most importantly, customer experience.Develop standard operating procedures.Direct accountability for setting and meeting operational goals.Scope and design standardized concepts.Shadow leaders across operations to learn what it takes to be a manager at Amazon.With support from management, lead large teams across different shifts.Learn how leaders conduct weekly business reviews for their sites and support them in the preparation of business reviews.Collaborate with senior management and support teams, which may include Safety, Engineering, Loss Prevention, Quality Assurance, and Human Resources, to develop plans to meet business objectives.A day in the life:
