Job Summary: The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of a Part 145 certified component maintenance organization.
This includes ensuring the efficient, safe, and compliant repair, overhaul, and testing of aircraft components, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
The role involves managing personnel, ensuring compliance with regulations, and continuous improvement of operational procedures.
Responsibilities and duties: Management of Maintenance Operations: Supervise and coordinate all component repair and maintenance activities in the organization.
Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with the approved maintenance organization procedures (MOE) and applicable aviation regulations.
Ensure proper planning, scheduling, and prioritizing of maintenance tasks to meet deadlines and customer needs.
Compliance with Part 145 Regulations: Maintain full compliance with EASA Part 145 requirements, ensuring all procedures and processes are followed.
Ensure that the organization adheres to safety, quality, and regulatory standards during the maintenance, repair, and testing of aircraft components.
Ensure all maintenance work is documented and recorded correctly in compliance with regulatory standards.
Team Leadership and Personnel Management: Manage a team of technicians, engineers, and administrative staff, providing leadership and guidance.
Train and develop personnel to enhance skills, knowledge, and performance.
Conduct performance reviews and address any disciplinary issues when required.
Quality Control: Monitor and enforce the implementation of a robust quality assurance system, ensuring all components are repaired to meet OEM specifications and safety standards.
Address non-conformance issues and ensure corrective actions are taken.
Collaborate with the Quality Manager to ensure audits, inspections, and certifications are performed as required.
Customer Relationship and Communication: Maintain effective communication with customers, providing status updates on maintenance work and addressing customer inquiries or concerns.
Work closely with the sales and operations teams to understand customer needs and ensure proper scheduling and delivery of services.
Inventory and Equipment Management: Oversee the management of spare parts, tools, and equipment, ensuring all required materials are available for maintenance activities for components in the capability list.
Ensure that the maintenance department has the necessary tools and equipment in good working order.
Ensure the calibration and certification of tools and equipment, managing this activity to ensure that the department always has calibrated tools available to carry out repair activities.
Continuous Improvement: Develop and implement improvements to increase efficiency, reduce downtime, and optimize repair processes.
Monitor and review key performance indicators (KPIs) and maintenance metrics.
Implement Lean and Six Sigma practices where applicable to improve operational efficiency.
Health and Safety: Ensure the safety of staff and compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
Develop and enforce safety protocols to prevent accidents, injuries, and damage to equipment.
Reporting and Documentation: Prepare regular reports on maintenance performance, repair costs, and operational issues for senior management.
Ensure proper documentation of all maintenance activities for traceability and audit purposes.
Ensure that all component repairs meet the required documentation standards for certifications and approvals.
Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor's or equivalent in Aeronautical Engineering, Aviation Maintenance, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Part 145 maintenance organization, with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
Experience with component maintenance and repair, knowledge of aircraft systems, and understanding of component overhaul procedures.
Knowledge and understanding of Part 145 regulations and certification processes.
Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of liaising with customers and internal stakeholders.
Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Proficient in using Maintenance Management Software (MRO systems).
In-depth understanding of safety management systems and quality control procedures.
Preferred: Technical and functional knowledge of FOG inertial navigation systems and their major components.
Experience in a component repair facility.
Knowledge of industry best practices for operational efficiency and quality assurance.
Ability to manage complex maintenance projects under pressure while ensuring compliance with all regulations.
