JOB PURPOSE
Reporting into the Site Director, the LNG Specialist is responsible for inspecting the construction and outfitting of the related LNG equipment, ensuring that all fitting is done according to international regulations, the ship's contract, technical specifications, and builder standards. In this role, you will be responsible for controlling the quality of the materials used, compliance with regulations and with the IGF Code, and highlighting any discrepancies within the approved project.
You will also support with any potential adjustments to be made when any minor technical issues are identified during the construction phase. Any changes are to be recorded and shared within the Site team and the new building division to identify how they will be implemented on our future projects.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Ensuring that areas under the described discipline are built within the set timescale and in line with the approved technical design, contractual requirements, and functional requirements.Following the installation and outfitting of all LNG equipment and piping, maintaining accurate and up to date records of all activities and inspections.Attending project meetings and preparing progress reports.Ensuring that all commissioning activities are held in accordance with the scope and the specifications are approved by class and relevant authorities such as Flag and USCG representatives.Suggesting any minor adjustments that may be necessary, and following the implementation and development of any architectural/technical design changes that are made.Highlighting relevant aspects of the approved design that can be improved for future constructions.Working closely with the Technical Site Specialists during the construction and commissioning phase, helping to ensure that technical accessibility and functionality of equipment is duly verified.Highlighting relevant aspects of the ship's design and technical features that might jeopardise the functional requisites and must be improved for the current project or can be improved for future constructions based on the approval of the new building department.Assisting with Plan Approval activities as required. QUALIFICATIONS (skills, competencies, experience) Experience as a 1st Engineer, or higher, on Cruise ships - LNG Cruise experience is required.Degree in Engineering or similar / Experience in working within a cruise shipyard as a new build Engineer.Experience in delivering and conducting inspections of technical areas within the shipbuilding phase, or refitting projects within the Cruise sector.Good knowledge of piping, electrical machinery inspections is preferred.The ability to review new building specifications and to read and understand a variety of engineering drawings where required.Proficiency with the use of Microsoft Office (including Excel, MS Word, MS Project or equivalent and PowerPoint).Good knowledge of IGF Code, either with qualifications held, or relevant training within IGF Codes.Ability to review the RCA and technical reports to ensure that any changes are made and that they are successfully applied during construction.
