We are responsible for fixing bugs and security issues and we also shape the new versions of our distributions by delivering new features for those packages.We are looking for a "Linux Distribution Engineer - Python Specialist" - a software engineer with a good understanding of both Python and C that will help maintain Python and Python modules and backport Python security fixes to older code streams. The ideal candidate has already gained some experience in developing software for a Linux distribution and understands the complex mechanic of packaging and the structure of a Linux system.In your role, you will be a member of the Python Maintainers group and you will be helping with maintaining hundreds of Python packages, debugging issues, providing bug and security fixes, updating packages to the latest versions and delivering requested features. To support the long life-cycle of the SUSE Linux Enterprise Server product, back-porting patches to older Python versions is also an important element of this position.You will cooperate and collaborate with the Python upstream and openSUSE community and interact closely with SUSE Maintenance and Security team.
