**SUMMARY**
The Counsel - Italy Cluster (Italy, Greece & Malta) has primary responsibility for advice and counsel to the organization on all legal affairs within the region as well as certain designated business segments of the business. The role reports to the Associate General Counsel responsible for the Southern Cluster of Western Europe. The role will require a high degree of professionalism and involve interactions with high level business and functional leaders throughout Western Europe.
**WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING**
- Advises the Company on corporate, commercial, M&A, regulatory, antitrust, public procurement, compliance, IP and other legal issues relating to the Italy cluster.
- Advise the Company on legal/contractual rights/responsibilities for high risk/profile contracts.
- Proactively identify legal risks for highest risk/profile issues and develop/approve an action plan.
- Keep abreast of all legal, legislative, and regulatory developments, apprise senior management in a timely manner and assure full compliance with new laws, regulations, or policy matters.
- Train Company on legal topics and cascade training and information throughout the organization, acting as strategic partner for the commercial teams to limit risk; identify opportunities and suggest/implement solutions for better practices regarding structure, systems, and delivery of services.
- Establish strong relationships with internal and external constituents; responsible for relationships with key outside legal firms.
- Collaborate within Legal, including Ethics and Compliance and Privacy, to ensure effective and efficient delivery of Legal resources.
**WHAT YOU'LL BRING**
- Fluent in Italian & English; fluency in any other EMEA languages preferred.
- Strong understanding of local laws and regulations in Italy.
- Familiarity with regulations related to medical devices and pharmaceuticals.
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, with the ability to provide practical and commercially-focused legal advice.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide creative and innovative legal solutions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of initiative and proactivity.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Italian.
- Qualified lawyer with a degree in Law (LL.B or equivalent) and a postgraduate degree in Law (LL.M or equivalent).
- Admitted to practice law in Italy.
