Role Overview:
An exciting opportunity has arisen based in our Shanghai office for the Chinese Legal Counsel, reporting to the Legal Attorney based in the US and working as part of a Global Legal / IP team.
The role will work closely with the Porcine and Bovine leadership teams of our operations in China and other members of the Global Legal / IP team.
The role will also work with our various corporate functions, business development and supply chain.
Some travel will be required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Draft, review and negotiate new market supply, production and distribution contracts and other general commercial contracts
- Provide advice and assistance to business units, corporate functions and subsidiaries in connection with the day-to-day operations of the business
- Provide advice and assistance to business units in connection with litigation in China
- Advise business units and research teams about the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights in China
- Analyse legal and commercial risk of potential business strategies and issues and effectively manage these
- Advise business units and corporate functions on HR matters and corporate restructures
- Ensure good corporate governance structures are in place and that there is compliance with those structures including with competition / anti-trust legislation and regulations
- Provide advice and assistance to business units in connection to large commercial contracts for the supply of products and the licensing of intellectual property, and other tasks as required by the Group Counsel
**Requirements**:
- At least 5 years professional education and post-qualification work experience
- Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Professional working proficiency in the English language
- Ability to participate in global travel as required by the role (occasionally)
