Job description Within the Purchasing Office for leather goods, footwear and sneakers categories, we are looking for an experienced Leather Technician, who will work closely with the Style and Development teams, who will industrialise and follow actively all stages of production for leather materials and will suggest innovative materials.
The main areas of responsibility of the role are: Research and development of new leather: Answer the requests of the Style office by taking into account both design and production requirements and within the collection timeline. Prototyping and Sampling: Take care of the development of materials for prototyping and sampling, guaranteeing compliance with quality requirements and deadlines. Industrialisation of materials in collaboration with suppliers and finished product technicians. Market Trends: Maintain a constant update on the supply network, identifying new trends and proposals in the sector. Procedural and Qualitative Compliance: Follow the established procedures and quality requirements according to Balmain raw materials and finished products specifications. Collaboration and communication: Actively collaborate with the various departments involved in the development and production stages and provide all necessary information on the progress of activities. Nice to have: Knowledge of semi-finished techniques. Profile Requirements: At least 5 years' experience in a similar position in the luxury leather goods or in the tanneries sector. Thorough knowledge of leather and related processes. High knowledge of the English language. Negotiation skills. Knowledge of physical and chemical testing of materials. Good organisational and time management skills. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to adapt quickly to change and flexibility. Plus: Knowledge of Excel and French.
