What is the Role? This is an exciting new role within our European business and will play a vital part in our Net Zero commitment and ambitious growth strategy, come and help us Power Change in Europe!
As our Lead Project Development Manager, you will manage the renewable energy development process and lead a team of Project Managers in country to deliver and further develop our Italian portfolio.
You will lead the team in technical specification, timeline, milestones and budget needed for allocated renewable energy projects.
Your main accountabilities may also include:
Identifying sites favourable to the implementation of projects (study and mapping of technical, environmental and landscape constraints, site visits). Initiating, negotiating and obtaining the approval and support of the local authorities, sometimes in a competitive situation. Developing relationships and converting business opportunities with local and/or national clients and developers, local authorities and public organizations. The final goal is to achieve the permits (Single Authorization), the ready to be built (RTB) of the wind/solar farms until the operation. Managing and coordinating studies (pre-studies, environmental impact study, wind, acoustics) with the support of internal and external experts. Preparing the permit application and ensure the proper follow-up of the permitting phase. Overseeing the pre-construction steps; geotechnical and access studies, notarial deeds and request for electrical connection. The role will also work as part of the wider SSE Renewables development team, with the potential to diversify and work across our growing development portfolio of Storage, PV and Solar projects in Italy with sites at a variety of different stages of development.
What do I need? To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
A dynamic, highly motivated and delivery-focused individual with experience in the development of onshore infrastructure and management of VIA and AU required for onshore renewables, though other sectors will be considered. Demonstrable business development/technical and leadership experience with a specialized background in renewable energies, engineering, and service, and an enjoyment of working towards achieving personal and team goals, such as permits, authorizations, agreements with landowners, and decrees from local authorities and public organizations. The ability to identify requirements and/or quickly solve critical and stressful situations. Effective independent work and collaboration as part of the wider SSE Renewables Italian management team, managing internal and external resources with the ability to travel as needed (also with short notice) and high flexibility. Ability to communicate effectively in Italian and English is required (Spanish will be considered a plus). Knowledge of both regional and national procedures and laws related to all the steps of the wind farm authorization process, and experience in using AutoCad and GIS for Wind Farm projects design is preferred. A strategic selling approach, excellent active listening skills, ability to face and manage stressful issues and situations, business acumen, and problem-solving capabilities to reach business objectives and build profitable, long-term relationships with key stakeholders (both private and public sector).
