Hauptaufgaben Incumbent assists Military Police, Investigators and Carabinieri serving as an interpreter during interviews and interrogations pertaining to traffic accidents, grand larcenies, drug possession, assault, housebreaking and other disturbances.
Uses a knowledge of investigative and surveillance techniques, Italian and U.S. laws, rules of evidence and criminal procedure requirements of legal hearings and court proceedings.
Serves as a public official when assisting Italian law enforcement and judicial authorities in questioning U.S.
Forces personnel.
Assists Military Police Investigators in cases requiring long term investigations.
Possesses a basic knowledge of rules of evidence, search and seizure, and constitutional rights; recognizes, develops and presents evidence which reconstructs events, sequences and time elements.
Translates from Italian into English and vice versa police reports of incidents, witness reports, letters to law enforcement agencies, judicial reports and related documents.
Maintains liaison with numerous Italian civilian and military agencies, solving problems and conflicts arising from complex situations where U.S. personnel are subject to both military and civil penal code and/or civil code.
Serves as the work leader over approximately 3-5 Interpreters.
Sets work priorities, instructs employees in specific tasks and job techniques, and provides technical procedures, reference manuals, etc.
Provides technical assistance on problems encountered and recommends possible solutions.
Adjusts workload according to changing needs.
Establishes cut-off dates and schedules for preparation and submission of required reports.
Maintains discipline and recommends disciplinary actions.
Provides input on performance and monitors leave schedules.
NOTE: Tour of duty is 42 hours per week on shifts which cover the 24 hours and include weekends and holidays.
Qualifikationsanforderungen MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet the qualification requirements in the "Qualification Standards" published by U.S. Office of Personnel Management, as summarized below.
EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have a minimum of 1 year of Specialized Experience equivalent to at least the UA-02 grade level.
Specialized Experience is experience in translating, interpreting or other work requiring the use of English and Italian.
OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Dottorato di Ricerca; education must be directly related to the occupation.
