Responsibilities: Assist Military Police, Investigators, and Carabinieri as an interpreter during interviews and interrogations related to various incidents. Utilize knowledge of investigative techniques and laws to assist in legal proceedings. Serve as a public official in questioning U.S. Forces personnel. Assist in long-term investigations and present evidence to reconstruct events. Translate reports and documents between Italian and English. Maintain liaison with Italian civilian and military agencies. Lead and instruct a team of approximately 3-5 interpreters. Provide technical assistance and adjust workloads as needed. Monitor leave schedules and provide input on performance. NOTE: Tour of duty is 42 hours per week on shifts covering 24 hours, including weekends and holidays.
Minimum Qualification Requirements: Applicants must meet the qualification requirements in the "Qualification Standards" published by U.S. Office of Personnel Management, summarized as follows:
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 1 year of Specialized Experience equivalent to at least the UA-02 grade level in translating or interpreting.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Dottorato di Ricerca; education must be directly related to the occupation.
If substituting education for experience, copies of education documents must be submitted at the time of application.
NOTE: Position requires excellent knowledge of English and Italian for translation and interpretation of technical, non-technical, and legal terminology.
