We're looking for a passionate Lead Backend Engineer to join the Translated team in our HQ in Pi Campus, Rome. We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer with deep expertise in Node.js to join our fast-paced and innovative engineering team. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems to power our applications, drive technical excellence, and mentor junior team members. What You'll Do
Design and implement efficient, scalable, and secure backend services using Node.js.
Launch a new consumer-based product, the next generation of our AI solutions for translation.
Coding, debugging, and testing.
Build high-quality reusable code that can be used in the future.
Develop functional and sustainable applications with clean code.
Troubleshoot and debug applications.
Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of product owners, designers, developers, and system administrators.
Build scalable API for enterprises like Airbnb, Uber, and others.
Blend tech solutions that integrate humans in the loop with AI for translation.
Maintain and extend our existing SQL databases and ensure data integrity and security.
Lead and manage a fast-growing team.
Qualifications Required
Master's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
5+ years of working experience in software development teams.
Proven experience in developing and maintaining scalable applications (millions of requests).
Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, event-driven architecture, and server-side development.
Deep knowledge of TypeScript and Node.js.
Experience with Relational DBMS (MySQL).
Experience with NoSQL DBMS (Redis, Kafka).
Experience with version control (GIT) and GitHub workflow.
Experience in team management.
Proactive, self-driven, and enjoys solving complex problems, not just in the primary area of responsibility but across boundaries.
