Position Overview: We are looking for a Junior Engineer to join our team at Portofino.
The ideal candidate will assist the Chief Engineer and the maintenance team across Splendido, Splendido Mare, and Villa Beatrice.
The role involves general assistance in various engineering and maintenance tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the hotel's facilities.
Main duties and responsibilities Assist the Chief Engineer in daily operations and maintenance tasks.
Support the maintenance team in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
Conduct regular inspections of equipment and systems to ensure they are functioning correctly and efficiently.
Help in the implementation of preventive maintenance programs.
Assist in maintaining records of maintenance activities and equipment performance.
Collaborate with other departments to address maintenance issues promptly.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
Participate in training and development programs to enhance technical skills.
Support administrative practices of the department, in line with policies and procedures.
Assist with sustainability projects and initiatives, including: Developing and implementing sustainability strategies.
Reducing energy consumption, water usage, waste generation, and carbon emissions.
Promoting recycling, waste reduction, and responsible sourcing.
Integrating sustainability criteria into purchasing decisions.
Monitoring sustainability KPIs and preparing progress reports.
Conducting sustainability training and awareness programs for staff.
Staying informed on sustainability trends and recommending innovative solutions.
Engaging with guests, local communities, and stakeholders on sustainability initiatives.
Requirements Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in sustainability activities, preferably in the hospitality or tourism industry.
Strong understanding of environmental sustainability principles, standards, and frameworks (e.g., ISO 14001, LEED, Green Key).
Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
Basic project management skills, with the ability to plan, execute, and evaluate sustainability initiatives effectively.
Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts and influence decision-making.
