Offer DescriptionIUSTITIAM is an interdisciplinary and comparative project that stems from an awareness of the need to reconstruct the unity of the human and social sciences in order to break the isolation of the legal disciplines.
The subject of the project is mercantile justice in Europe between the Middle Ages and the Early Modern Period, which will be analyzed from the unprecedented point of view of the study of the spaces chosen by merchants to administer their justice.
Through the study of places (tribunals, loggias, fondacos/kontors), spaces (squares) and iconography (paintings, frescoes and sculptures), the project intends to link legal history, art history and the history of architecture in order to analyze the "visual language" that merchants used over the centuries in the main European trading centers to express their idea of law and justice.
Selection ProcessThe selection takes place through:
a comparative evaluation of qualifications and an interview; evaluation of the scientific-professional curriculum; evaluation of scientific productivity.
Candidates' applications will be examined by a selection board appointed by the Department Director and composed of three members belonging to the scientific area, one of whom is the scientific head of the research project.
