We are looking for a R&D Compounds & Materials Engineer to join the R&D Material team in Italy.
Based in Quattordio Plant (Alessandria) and reporting to the Regional R&D Compounds & Materials & Physico-Chemical Laboratory Manager, the successful candidate will manage the definition and realization of research and development projects related to materials and compounds within two Italian Plants: Quattordio (production of compounds) and Merlino (production of Special cables) and relative businesses, in order to increase Prysmian's position in the market.
In this Role your main responsibilities will be, within Quattordio and Merlino activities: Identify, develop, characterize and qualify new materials in order to:Propose innovative solutions on the marketImprove current products in terms of cost reduction (DTC) and increase product reliabilityAssure full availability and cost constraints of the raw materials for the supply chainAct as a material expert for all questions arising from internal (R&D Team, Procurement, Commercial, Manufacturing, QHSE) or external (customers) sourcesGuarantee the management of raw materials and compounds necessary for cable production, considering availability on the market and priceActively follow requests for work to the Laboratory compound development and characterization Center located in QuattordioEnsure monitoring and constant improvement of the manufacturing processes of the compounds and their formulation to guarantee the durability of materials and compoundsProvide efficient assistance to the R&D Italy team (including final customers' requests), Supply chain department, production, procurement, and QHSE departmentsComplete documentation management of the materials (e.g., Product specification, technical specification, material safety data sheet, internal specification, REACH and RoHS compliance)Coordinate activities within the Regional R&D Materials groupYour Knowledge And Background: Master's Degree in Chemical, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering in Polymers, Plastics, or RubbersPrevious experience (around 3 years) in similar rolesYour Skills: Effective leadership and communication skills, projecting competence and credibilityCurious and willing to challenge the status quo and be an innovatorAbility to work independently, within complex matrix organizations, and to handle pressure at timesAbility to understand and define priorities in a fast-paced environmentFan of teamwork approachExperience of working in an evolving environment, involving new systems, new processes, and mindset for cultural diversityFluent in Italian and English, both spoken and writtenAvailability to travel within Italy and abroad
