The role will cooperate with a high level of independence in the definition and evolution of the infrastructure architecture of the bank's information system taking into account IT policy.
Key responsibilities: Evangelize application architecture guiding principles, policies, best practices, reference architecture and standards.
Implement the reference infrastructure architecture, considering strategic architecture direction defined by the Enterprise Infrastructure Architect.
Liaise with Head Office and IT architecture community within the ING Group in relation to common technology infrastructure systems used and the requirements of those systems.
Design infrastructure architectures to meet business and IT requirements and proactively collaborate with development teams during Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) when architecture review is required.
Ensure that the architecture is implemented according to plan, minimizing technical/tactical debt.
Escalate to management if required.
Reduce complexity and steer towards preventing or reducing technical debt.
Improve the quality and consistency and reduce time-to-market for the platform.
Shorten the cycle time from idea to service with impact to consumer.
Actively guard security and data integrity in the design, implementation and operation of platforms using standards industry frameworks.
Define global standards in collaboration with other Architects, Engineers, IT Leads, etc.
Provide guidance to Engineers, managers and teams/squads for the platform by describing design patterns in Cookbooks together with the engineering discipline.
Describe how these best practices can actually be implemented in practice.
Collaborate with Business lines for promoting architectural awareness and technological innovation and opportunities.
Collaborate with IT operation team on problem management that requires architecture analysis.
Interact effectively with other IT departments and with the global IT community as well as bank industry organizations, consultants and suppliers.
Education, Qualifications and work experience: Degree in IT engineering or Science of Information technology or comparable background experience.
3+ years' experience as System Engineer/Developer/ICT Architect in a complex IT environment.
Technical and other Specialised Skills: Be aware that it is not required to fully cover all the items in the following list, don't be afraid to apply with a partial coverage of it: Deep knowledge / experience of Standard Architecture documentation.
Deep knowledge of System Engineering principles and best practices.
Good knowledge of security concepts and TOGAF architecture framework.
Good knowledge in network protocols and network segmentation best practices.
Good experience in middleware infrastructure design using patterns to support Resilience, High Availability, Disaster Recovery, Capacity and Performance.
Good knowledge of IT processes and SDLC.
Good knowledge of virtualization environment such as VMWare.
Good knowledge of API principles and other integration patterns (e.g.
Message queue, Event Bus).
Good knowledge of container orchestration tool/suites such as OpenShift / Kubernetes.
Good knowledge of Cloud computing and at least one of the major CSPs (e.g.
MS Azure / AWS / GCP).
Basic knowledge of DB Administration.
Basic knowledge of Integration Script language, ScriptShell, Powershell, Perl.
Basic knowledge of continuous integration pipelines and generally of Git, Ansible, Artifactory or Azure DevOps.
Basic knowledge and/or Experience of Storage, Archiving and Backup principles.
Basic knowledge of SRE principles and best practices.
Good experience/knowledge of Agile WOW.
Fluent in English (written and spoken).
