OFFER DESCRIPTION Biological biomonitoring of lakes and rivers with particular reference to the collection and analysis of data on bivalves; implementation of alarm systems based on the behavioral and physiological responses of sentinel species aimed at detecting the impacts of:
wastewater treatment plants; impact of changes in the hydrometric level on aquatic communities; bioaccumulation of nano and microplastics in the biotic components of the lacustrine food chain.
The research activity will span several projects and will consist of:
native and invasive bivalve samplings; analysis of biometric parameters, reproductive condition and parasites; laboratory experiments for:
i) evaluation of the accumulation of micro andnano-plastics in native and invasive bivalves; ii) evaluation of physiological and behavioral responses (valvometry) to the variation of physical and chemical factors; iii) translocation of native bivalves for repopulation of coastal lake areas.
