JR67837 INTERNSHIP_Controller Architecture Engineer Internship in Compression Algorithms for Memory Controller Job Description As an intern in the Controller Architecture team, you will gain hands-on experience in developing and optimizing features that may be included in future controllers.
This internship is designed to provide an immersive experience into the memory system.
You will be working under the mentorship of one of our senior engineers and technical staff, in a highly collaborative atmosphere, to find innovative solutions to meet requirements for our customers.
Job Responsibilities may include: Identifying compression algorithms applicable to system memory (e.g., LZ4).
Creating workloads and benchmarks to compare compression algorithms.
Comparing upside and downside of the identified algorithms and selecting the more promising options.
Estimating latency and performance when accessing compressed data in system memory.
Defining hardware and firmware architecture of the selected solution and writing a technical document that describes its implementation.
Describing defragmentation operations, address indirection, and all other operations included in compression algorithms.
Collaborating with hardware and firmware architects to optimize the solution considering the architecture of a full controller.
Identifying software implications at OS level or system level related to the adoption of compression in system memory, including host-device interactions.
Knowledge & Skills: Understanding of memory systems in a data center is desirable.
Experience in programming or scripting.
Familiarity with compression algorithms, machine learning, and AI are a plus.
Operating systems (e.g., Linux, Microsoft, VMware).
Knowledge of DRAM characteristics and features is desirable.
Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently, with minimal direction, and regularly report achievements and status.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Education: Master's degree in Electronic, Computer, or Computing Science Engineering.
