Job Description JOB SUMMARY : Works in laboratory running customer specific tests. Provides test data reports and works with Technical Support Department personnel to ensure continuous, timely, and accurate responses to inquiries related to laboratory tests. Works with and provides engineering with ideas to improve Sweco equipment and provides testing support for new product releases. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : Responsible for scheduling laboratory tests, performing lab tests on all equipment, writing test reports, maintaining an adequate inventory of research lab materials, and laboratory equipment. Ensure effective operation of all laboratory equipment and adherence to all regulatory requirements. Provide sales support for visiting customers to the test lab. Develop standard operating procedures and maintain records to comply with regulatory and ISO requirements. Evaluate new equipment and raw materials for safety. Oversee purchasing needed for general lab use and inventory control of customer's test samples. Ensure inventory levels for laboratory supplies are maintained. Oversee procurement of supplies and preventive maintenance of facility equipment. Review customers MSDS sheets of test samples. Provide technical assistance via phone, fax or other forms of communications when needed. Complete technical product reports and reports on product problems encountered. Create an open and effective communication system between the field sales, customer service, and sales management to better serve the needs of the customer, and the interests of the company. Provide sales support for visiting customers to field test equipment as requested. Maintain and adjust Sweco Equipment. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES : Handle other requests from management on a timely basis. Perform quality / safety audits as requested. Field testing. Drive to customer sites to provide requested services. JOB QUALIFICATIONS : Technical training required with preferably an Engineering degree. Good interpersonal and sales skills with customers, sales reps, and inside personnel. Strong verbal and written communication skills a must. Ability to travel if needed. Has initiative and ability to work effectively with little direction and/or few guidelines. Excellent analytical, administrative, communications and organizational skills. Familiarity with ISO 9000 requirements and continuous improvement methods. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Undergraduate degree in Industrial Manufacturing required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : Some lifting of 45 pounds and under may be necessary from time to time. Work around machinery and moving parts; work around moving objects or vehicles. Work closely with others. Duties will include handling and testing of samples requiring materials management procedures in accordance with OSHA and SWECO safety policies.
