A key part of this role is to support the New Product Introduction (NPI) process, ensuring that safety and hygiene considerations are integrated from the outset of new product design and manufacturing.
This role will also oversee compliance with Johnson & Johnson's (J&J) health, safety, and environmental standards.Key Responsibilities:·       Industrial Hygiene Program Development & Management: Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the industrial hygiene program to monitor and control workplace health hazards, including exposure to chemicals, noise, dust, biological agents, and other environmental risks.
Ensure all practices align with Johnson & Johnson's global health, safety, and environmental standards.·       Exposure Assessment & Monitoring: Conduct routine industrial hygiene assessments and exposure monitoring to identify potential health risks.
Analyze exposure data using scientifically-based methods and recommend effective control measures.
Ensure all exposure monitoring is aligned with J&J's internal safety and hygiene protocols.·       Compliance & Regulatory Adherence: Ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including ISO, OSHA, NIOSH, and EPA, while integrating J&J's global compliance standards.
Stay updated on relevant regulations and ensure that all industrial hygiene activities meet J&J's rigorous internal guidelines and regulatory requirements.·       Risk Identification & Control: Identify workplace health risks, recommend mitigation measures for exposure to physical, chemical, biological, and ergonomic hazards, and work closely with other departments to implement corrective actions in alignment with J&J's safety culture and best practices for managing health hazards.·       New Product Introduction (NPI) Support: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., R&D, engineering, and manufacturing) to integrate industrial hygiene considerations into the New Product Introduction (NPI) process.
Ensure that potential health hazards related to new products, processes, and materials are identified early and mitigated through risk assessments and appropriate controls.
Provide guidance on safety requirements, such as chemical handling, ventilation, and PPE, for new product designs and manufacturing processes.·       Health and Safety Education & Training: Develop and deliver training programs on industrial hygiene principles, hazard control techniques, and the safe handling of chemicals and materials.
Ensure that employees are trained on J&J's health and safety standards and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).·       PPE Program Oversight: Manage the selection, implementation, and training related to PPE to ensure that employees are adequately protected based on exposure risks.
Ensure that PPE practices align with J&J's guidelines and promote safe and effective use across the workplace.·       Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze industrial hygiene data, prepare reports on exposure assessments, control measures, and the effectiveness of health and safety programs.
Ensure that all reporting is in compliance with J&J's global reporting requirements and effectively communicate findings to leadership, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.·       Continuous Improvement & Best Practices: Monitor and assess the industrial hygiene program to ensure continuous improvement.
Stay informed on the latest industry trends, technologies, and J&J standards to enhance the overall safety and well-being of employees.QualificationsEducation:·       Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).MA/MBA and PMO preferredExperience and Skills: ·       Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial hygiene, environmental health, or a related field, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.·       In-depth knowledge of industrial hygiene principles, exposure monitoring techniques, and regulatory requirements, including OSHA, NIOSH, ACGIH, EPA, and J&J's internal safety and compliance standards.·       Certification as a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or equivalent is highly preferred.·       Experience in supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and collaborating with product development teams to assess health and safety risks in new product designs and processes.·       Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage employees across all levels of the organization.·       Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and compliance with J&J's health and safety expectations.·       Strong knowledge of ISO/OSHA regulations, local and international safety standards, and J&J's internal compliance guidelines.·       Proven ability to influence and lead by example in ensuring adherence to safety standards across all levels of an organization.Required:Fluent knowledge of Italian (local language) and EnglishAt least 5 years of experience in similar rolesExperience in GMP EnvironmentStrong organizational and work planning skillsStrong communication and influencing skillsFor more than 130 years, diversity, equity & inclusion (DEI) has been a part of our cultural fabric at Johnson & Johnson and woven into how we do business every day.
