he Electrification Core engineering team requires experienced Safety engineers to apply world class design and analysis skills to improve capability to deliver the next generation of HV Systems for future Electric and Hybrid vehicles. The objective is to deliver levels of safety, reliability and robustness exceeding anything that we have seen before.
Key Responsibilities:
* Working with the Core Functional Safety team and HV Power Supply System external interfaces.
* Develop Functional safety concept, Item definitions, HARA, HASOP, and Safety goals, including FSRs and TSRs for the HV System.
* Contribute to the system design and layout, with impact analysis on the safety rating of the drive, charging and energy storage systems.
* Apply your expertise to the functional operation of the HV System, influencing key aspects of the systems delivery of features and functions
* Contribute to Safe Systems of Work, including lock off and Power up safety procedures for Electric and Hybrid Vehicles
* Study and develop HV Functional Safety concepts of propulsion system layout and hardware in conjunction with Ireland Functional Safety team.
Skills, experience and qualifications
Essential:
* Degree in relevant engineering discipline or in associated subjects such as electronics, electrical engineering or other technical qualifications.
* Understanding of functional safety design process
* Strong understanding of all parts of ISO26262
* Articulate problem solver
* Strong team worker
* A knowledge of typical BEV, MHEV and PHEV system solutions and technologies
* Understanding of control systems hardware, including sensor technology, control software and diagnostics
* Understanding of regulatory needs applicable to BEV and PHEV solutions
* Ability to work individually and in a cross functional team
* Excellent communication and presentation skills, accuracy and attention to detail in written communication
* Experience of meeting deadlines
* The ability to understand and work to commodity timing plans (including Design Verification plans, programme plans and supplier timing plans)
* Experience of design FMEA's
* Appreciation of system level issues and software is required
* Experience in working on the functional safety concepts for at least one Electric or Hybrid Vehicle, other application such as rail or military transportation applications.
Desired:
* Familiarity with TRM, JIRA,
* Appreciation of design for the automotive environment
* Product launch, quality or issue resolution experience
* Knowledge of the APQP process
