The Electrification Core engineering team requires experienced electrical engineers to apply world class design and analysis skills to improve Jaguar Land Rovers capability to deliver the next generation of HV Systems for future Electric and Hybrid vehicles. The objective is to deliver levels of reliability and robustness exceeding anything that we have seen before.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure DFMEA, Design Rules, RMDV, Statement of Work process/documents are diligently and transparently implemented in the design condition at the appropriate design maturity gateways.
* Creation of HV System Engineering Quality artefacts such as P-Diagrams, FTA, Interface and boundary analysis.
* Leadership of the HV Systems design through the FFA and FMEA process.
* Lead issue resolution through JIRA and legacy systems (AIMS) and Change Management (WERS), establish processes to ensure that all changes are implemented robustly and support programme objectives.
* Cross functional coordination of the HV System quality deliverables to quality targets.
* Study of TGW and PR Aims and Leadership of PR Aims actions.
* Ensuring JLR standards and Test procedures are updated in accordance with forward Model Quality.
Skills, experience and qualifications
Essential:
* Degree in relevant engineering discipline or in associated subjects such as electronics, electrical engineering or other technical qualifications.
* A knowledge of typical BEV, MHEV and PHEV system solutions and technologies.
* Experience of complex high voltage system design and validation.
* Understanding of control systems hardware, including sensor technology, control software and diagnostics.
* Experience of defining and/or using appropriate analysis tools to optimise and verify thermal performance and hardware reliability/ durability.
* Significant experience specifying and designing low voltage, high voltage and control hardware , including a understanding of typical characteristics and protective systems required.
* Understanding of regulatory needs applicable to BEV and PHEV solutions.
* A working knowledge of the design and release process
* Strong people skills and the ability to work individually and in a cross functional team
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
* Experience of meeting deadlines.
* The ability to project manage a design through to production and manage several parts across multiple vehicle programmes
* Experience of Change Management
* Working Knowledge of Problem Resolution Techniques e.g. 8D
* The ability to make effective decisions in the best interest of the business and customer
* The ability to understand commodity timing plans (including Design Verification plans, programme plans and supplier timing plans)
* Experience of design FMEA's and ownership of delivery
* Wide knowledge of electronic devices and circuits and their application, including power devices, microcontrollers, switch mode power supplies, RF circuits, analogue and digital circuits and design for EMC and printed circuit board design and manufacturing process. .
* Have designed the hardware for more than one electronic product , at least one of which was for a vehicle application and will have experienced putting the design into production.
* Design skills are required in switch mode power supplies, power switching, microcontrollers, memories, high speed network interfaces, RF design, analogue and digital circuit design, EMC.
* Good appreciation of design for the automotive environment.
* An appreciation of system level issues and software is required

* Familiarity with TRM, RMDV or DOORS

* Knowledge of the APQP process
* Proficient use of the AIMS issue resolution process
* Experience of TVM process
